“Wonderful Rainforest Location!”

So nice to have some relief from the coastal heat and humidity of Costa Rica! (Off season when I was there). Simple cabins are very comfortable and cosy. Fantastic cloud forest area. David and his Father run a very special place. So relaxing I stayed an extra night :)

We had a good stay at the Cataratas Lodge. The room was clean and spacious. It's very quiet and peaceful. The surrounding area is nice and we saw lots of birds. Breakfast was also good and the staff were friendly.

“Log fire in your room is great for one night”

A room with a log fire 🔥.and great hot shower. Any San Jose , San Isidro De General bus will drop you at the San Gerardo bus stop. It is then a pleasant 3 km down hill walk to the lodge. There is also traffic for hitching or taxi . The Lodge has trails to waterfalls .

David and his sister assisted us as much as possible.The food was very tasty for breakfast and dinner. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful little paradise in the mountains. Very friendly staff and great and healthy food (for a good price) in the restaurant.

Beautiful location, comfortable cabins and great restaurant. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Gorgeous gardens and surrounding countryside with demanding walk to two waterfalls.

“Superb stay - wish it was longer”

David and his sister are absolutely delightful and incredibly helpful. The food in the restaurant was delicious - compliments to the chef. The cabin was warm and cosy- hot water showers were a real treat as we had just come down from Chirripo. The gardens are beautiful and full of humming birds. David took us out to spot Quetzals - which we did see. A tour well worth getting up for even just to see the stunning forests that surround the Lodge. I would definitely recommended Las Cataratas- and would definitely stay there again.

“a very pleasent staying over 3 nights”

very beautiful garden and water pond with trouts and a lot of hummingbirds flying around. a hot water kettle and a small heater were put in my room, thanks to the owner of property! I will stay at this property in the future if I travel to Costa Rica again.

An exceptional location. Eating our (wonderful) breakfast while watching hummingbirds eat theirs was worth the price of admission on its own. Staff were very friendly and helpful

“Lovely location set in beautiful grounds”

Lovely location set in beautiful grounds. We sat watching the hummingbirds at the feeders for ages. Alot of thought has been put into the rustic cabins. Very impressed and the picture windows gave us a spectacular view of the valley in the morning. We walked one of the trails from the Lodge to a lovely waterfall. A bit steep and slippy in places but worth doing. Got pretty cold at night but plenty of blankets provided that kept us warm. Owner spoke good English which made up for our lack of Spanish. Definitely recommend this Lodge.

Great value for solo travellers, lovely clean cabins surrounded by nature.

Awesome birds, walks and food. The cabinas are top, view on forest on the bathroom. You can get there by foot by taking the bus 3.5km 400d down and nice walk too. Quiet, relaxing place.

David the owner has been so lovely and a really big help to us - our car had broken on the road and he came to pick us up, and was so lovely throughout the whole stay. The lodge was basic but comfortable, and the scenery was spectacular
