“Authentic and central”

Chancellor Hotel is in perfect location in the heart of the city at Union Square. The famous cable tram runs right in front of the hotel. It is somewhat dated, what can be seen on the furniture, narrow lift and corridors, no airconditioning (yet top ventilator), however, it also means that the hotel has unique authentic spirit. Bad was comfortable and bathroom well equipped. I stayed on 2nd floor with street window and as hotel has simple windows I could hear the noise from street - however, it has not been disturbing. The staff is friendly and while the hotel does not have restaurant and breakfast room, it offers to its client in the reception area coffee, tea, water, apples, cookies, ... My experience was very positive, pleasant and if I am comming back to SF I would prefer to stay here.

The location is magnificent, and Union Square is just a one-minute walk. The cafe machine and the fruits and cookies provided in the lobby are all very sweet.

Excellent location, especially for shoppers. Plenty of designer stores are just steps away, making it easy to pop back to the hotel, drop off your bags, and continue shopping. Very convenient and enjoyable stay.

Amazing location, very good value for san francisco. Nice room! Free coffee, cookies and water at reception. They were nice to extend my check out a bit.

Great location except for the uphill walls that drained my energy a little. You got stations, trams and buses nearby that gets you to the Fisherman’s Wharf and other spots around the city.

Appreciated the coffee machine, microwave and water fountain amenities to use each day. The addition of great cookies and popcorn machine in the evening were a really lovely surprise and treat to each day. Our room was quiet - was very impressed and comforted by that.

Bed was very comfortable and the room was surprisingly quiet for its location. The cookies, coffee, and tea at the receptions are a really nice touch, I highly appreciated that.
