I recently stayed in a room in San Francisco, and unfortunately, it was a very unpleasant experience. The room itself was in poor condition, with a strong, unpleasant smell throughout. The bathroom was also a concern, as I encountered cockroaches or similar pests in the shower, which was quite disturbing. To make matters worse, during the night, someone attempted to enter my room, which made me feel unsafe and very uncomfortable. Additionally, the room was situated above a bar or nightclub, so the noise level was unbearable, with loud sounds going on until very late at night. I found it difficult to sleep at all, especially given how unhygienic and unsettling the environment was. After just one night, I decided to check out early because I couldn’t tolerate staying there any longer. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and safe stay in San Francisco.

“Last resort, only for a super tight budget and if you still want a private room”

Super convenient location and affordable price are the only pros. Better than a bunk bed in a shared room in the hostel, so will do for a couple of nights if you are young, on a very tight budget and NOT a light sleeper.

We loved our stay at the Cable Car Hotel in Knob Hill, San Francisco! We're kind of quirky people, and this is a quirky little hotel. We paid a bit extra for an ensuite bathroom (each floor has washrooms and bathrooms for the hostel-like rooms). The staff were all friendly and helpful. The place is an older Knob Hill house, but it's clean and comfy. BEST PARTS? A wonderful vegan cafe (Nourish) less than a minute's walk away on Hyde. A Trader Joe's kitty corner. A friendly pub next door for a quick drink after a long day at our conference. A half hour walk to the Moscone Convention Center. And, of course, it's right on a cable car route. We highly recommend Cable Car Hotel to anyone who prefers funky to concrete box.

“Big Bright Room in Nice Area”

The room was large, comfortable, the bed was nice. The fridge and microwave in the room were lifesavers. We had a ton of closet space as well. It was more than enough for two people. The area was also very nice, with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance, and diagonal to a large supermarket. There were bus stops nearby as well. The people at the front desk were super nice, helped us with our bags, even let me use the shower after check out. The bathroom was shared, however we never had to wait to use it. All around a lovely experience for my first visit to San Francisco.

First time they didn't give me the room that the other staff already reserved and it was a disaster. Second time, the room service did not make the room. No replacement for supplies and cleanliness.

“Lovely old Hotel in Nob Hill. Close to some shops and Trams.”

Hotel was very old, but clean. Was located on the tram tracks to downtown San Francisco. Could not walk far as Hotel was on a hill, so was hard, but tram was great.
