La Isla Hostel is an absolutely fantastic hostel that we would warmly recommend to anyone and everyone. The breakfast is good, the terrace is cozy, and the indoor common areas are wonderfully and comfortably decorated. Overall, it’s a place where you just feel like hanging out. We even ended up extending our stay. Everyone is incredibly kind, and it feels very much like a family. The staff and volunteers are always ready with great recommendations for things to experience in San Cristóbal de las Casas and are extremely helpful. As a bonus, there is also free yoga three times a week with highly skilled instructors. 10 out of 10! 🌟

I absolutely loved my stay at La Isla. Over months of travel it's the hostel that I felt most at "home" in. The atmosphere is peaceful and friendly, with yoga and various other activities regularly organised. Breakfast is a pleasant, social start to the day. The facilities are kept clean and it has a well equipped kitchen. The hostel is quiet for sleeping and well located in San Cris. Thank you to everyone at La Isla for a wonderful stay.

Staff are really lovely and easy to talk to. They go out of their way to help and were very responsive before my stay. The atmosphere is what makes the hostel great and is chilled. It was also clean all the time. The location is fantastic. Pancakes are good.

“The hostel has a great vibe! A proper travellers hostel”

Well located, a little small but super welcoming and friendly hostel. I really enjoyed my stay here! Staff are volunteers and were helpful, patient and just really nice people. Had a good laugh with them. Clean water was provided in the kitchen, FREE yoga classes upstairs after 11am! Two main communal areas including a BBQ roof terrace area. Beds were super comfortable. Dorms are mixed. Storage lockers provided in every room. On my last night I was lucky enough to experience a beautiful musical performance - maybe I got lucky! I miss San Cristobal and this place.

Such a beautiful and colorful hostel! It felt just like home. I loved my room with a huge window where I could watch amazing sunsets. Hot water for shower. The volunteers were super friendly, and the breakfast was really good. I would definitely come back!

No words can describe the magic of La Isla! It is a special place with amazing people. We loved the terrace, the amazing yoga lessons and all the common spaces to relax and get to know other travellers, it was also so nice to have breakfast together every day. The shared bathrooms are always clean. There are only three showers, so if the hostel is at full capacity you will need to wait a bit or just shower earlier or in the afternoon/evening - this is not an issue. Mariam, AK and all the volunteers are amazing people who make you feel at home instantly. We had an issue with our transport to the next destination and they helped us resolve it very quickly. So many good vibes at La Isla that it was hard to leave. Thank you - we can't wait to come back 🫶

I need to say my stay in Hostal la Isla was definitely one of the best during my 6 weeks Mexico trip:) I truly loved the vibe in the hostel - it was extremely welcoming, warm and friendly. The owner is a person who used to backpack and knows what travelers need to feel good in the hostel, he's also great and very interesting person to talk to:) Volunteers were very open, friendly, helpful, smiley - there is nothing more I could ask for. In general I really felt there like home, I loved spending time in common areas, morning yoga and "hippie" vibe. Hostel was very clean, decent breakfasts, great value for many! I also loved the big bathroom, great change from typical hostel showers:) Came for 2 nights, stayed one week (would stay longer if I had more time:D)

“Really tiny hostal”

Everything is so tiny.super small kitchen and common area.For one or two days is fine but no more.No curtains at my dorm.

Great vibe here, 4 communal areas for relaxing and chatting with other travellers. Beds are comfortable and they give you an extra blanket and towel. Security lockers but bring or buy your own lock. They also offer free yoga classes and breakfast - brilliant! Special shout out to Heso and Lucy who were very helpful and friendly.

Our room had a beautiful view over the city and the mountains. The vibe was very friendly without being overbearing and it's definitely not a party hostel. Lots of nice places to chill and breakfast included, staff were lovely too.

We had a great stay at hostal la isla. The staff was supernice, very helpful. It's a small hostel which makes a sweet and familiar atmosphere. Rooms and Bathrooms were clean. The location of the hostel is central, main attractions, shops, restaurants are in walking distance. Small but very delicious breakfast. We would love to stay there again!

“Great non party hostel for travelling solo”

Location, guests, atmosphere and staff all spot on. Stayed longer than intended because of this.
