Overview
Hotel Casa del Mar is the most centrally located boutique hotel in the beautiful jungle beach paradise known as Playa Sámara. The hotel is located directly across the street from Playa Samara beach and Ticos surf school. The local food court named The Natural Center is located right next door to hotel with many independent restaurants offering cuisine from around the world being offered daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The world famous and very romantic Gusto Beach restaurant is located directly across the street with beach dining and nightly fire shows with live performers. Free Wi-Fi and parking are available. Couples love the location — it's been given a 9.5 for two-person trips.

The location is amazing, close to everything but the courtyard layout helps keep it on the quieter side. We have stayed here before and the old ownership was definitely off putting. It’s under new ownership now, (last month or so?) even if they haven’t changed the aggressive welcome message yet, the vibe is definitely less oppressive. Beds are comfy, we always get a room with a private bath so I can’t speak to the shared bathroom experience. Room was clean, shower was hot, and the staff is always lovely.

“All good”
After we've made the reservation we saw many bad reviews and started doubting our choice. But our experience with this hotel was only positive! It was clean, the rooms were good for that price and the staff was really friendly. We'd come again.

The women work very hard cooking and cleaning. They are always happy.

“A wonderful stay with great hosts”
Perfect location, right beside the beach, basically waterfront. There was a great breakfast in the mornings to start our day with options available for vegetarian friendly customers like myself. Our hosts were amazing as well, extremely friendly and was very helpful with our questions. Plus Casa Del Mar was right beside multiple shops and restaurants/cafes. We were in the perfect spot.

Nice accommodation close to the beach. The ladies on the reception were very friendly and gave us the room a little bit earlier. Furthermore we had to check out very before breakfast and they gave us sandwiches and coffee for our long drive back to San Jose. I would definitely stay there again.

“just great”
The hotel is in close proximity to the beach. The equipment is very good. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. This home was a wonderful ending to our trip !! We can only recommend this hotel to everyone!

“Money stolen - horrible Hotel”
Worst hotel i have ever been. Money was stolen from our room and when we told the hotel manager about it, she simply called us liars and treated us in a very rude way. We have proof that the hotel personnel was in our room as the cleaning towels were left next to the bag where our money was. We went to police station and reported the crime. According to the police, there are many complaints about this hotel, so please avoid going there. If the stolen money was not enough, on our last day my wife was even physically assaulted by the hotel owner and her husband. We also reported this incident. Regarding the room facilities: old and dirty. Our bedsheets had stains so we had to sleep on our sleeping bags. Additionally, we had a huge cockroach in our room.
