We had a wonderful time and felt very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic, and the owner shared many interesting stories with us and showed us his amazing collection. The décor is lovingly and carefully chosen, making you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time.

We had a lovely stay at La Chanoinesse. The house is full of character. Our room was large and well furnished and comfortable. Very clean. Good bathroom facilities. Tea and coffee making facilities in the large shared lounge area. The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was perfect and served outside in the garden (croissants, bread, homemade jams, ham, cheese, eggs, yogurt, fruit, cereal and freshly squeezed orange juice).

A charming place to stay, it was like stepping back into a more graceful century, but with a completely up to date bathroom. Our host made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. He was friendly, helpful and informative. He booked us the perfect table at a nearby restaurant. The breakfast he provided was perfect with local produce, fresh squeezed orange juice and homemade jams. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Fabulous house full of beautiful antiques, books and furnishings. An exceptional place to stay and a real privilege to be part of the welcoming household for a few hours. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, and breakfast on the terrace was a cornucopia of delights.

Everything!! It was so lovely, the host, the place, the village. The house is so beautiful. If we had known what a beautiful place this was when we placed the booking, we would have stayed here for many days. The breakfast was served in the garden, so peaceful and quiet

The host, Jean-Dénis, gave us a warm welcome and showed us the property. Since I am interested in French history, I found particularly interesting to stay one night that the Chanoinesse since all the rooms and common areas were decorated like 18th.

“Wonderful Stay”

What a great place! First the hosts were very nice. Welcoming and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The house itself is fantastic. The furnishing are extremely interesting. You have your own room (beautiful) and a very large sitting room, which is shared between the paying guests. One a table there is tea and a kettle. We were served a carafe of wine on our arrival. Everything was very clean and bathroom was spotless. On the evening we arrived, the restaurant nearby was closed. Having encountered that previously on our travels, we were prepared with a picnic. The hosts set us up on a table in the garden with everything. This was a lovely stopover for us and we would definitely return.

We broke up our trip to the south of France by staying at the Chanoinesse. The village is quiet in the middle of beautiful Beaujolais country. The owners are extremely friendly and passionate about collecting artifacts from the 18th century.. The ‘room of curiosities’ was a unique experience, a room containing amazingly diverse items collected lovingly over many years … what made it unique was the fact the owner encouraged our daughter and us to pick things up and touch, feel! That alone made it well worth staying at this property as did the copious breakfast from locally sourced quality produce, delicious.

Great place to stay, very welcoming owners. Breakfast exceeded expectations. Nice and even eccentric decoration. We will come back.
