The communication with the owner was so helpful, especially as I had no idea what to expect in the town. He offered to pick me up from the bus stop however, it is only about a three minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel. Right on the same road. The whole town is absolutely gorgeous and the hotel building was no exception. I could tell that the owner had spent significant time and thought to make it so beautifully french. When you walk in, it is to a lovely sitting area where guests can gather and share the homecooked breakfast together. The owner also owns a restaurant nearby so his 'home' cooking is pretty amazing. A great room, with a beautiful bathroom and just so thoughtfully decorated. It was a lovely space to be in. I also did go to the restaurant for lunch, Les Chimeres. The atmosphere and the food were super. As I have just bought a holiday house here, the owner has also gone out of his way to assist me with local information. I overheard him giving some practical tips to some other guests. It's the place to stay if you want to enjoy peace and beauty right on your door step.

“Perfectly fine for a stopover”

Gaultier, to be honest, has seen better days. The hotel was fine though as was the meal we had at its restaurant in another part of the town.

The hotel is on the Grand Rue and looks like a very nice ex double fronted shop. Through the door is a guest lounge very nicely furnished bright and comfortable. Through a door and up the stairs and Room 2 has a couple of steps down into it; don’t forget! The room is a good size with a big double window directly opposite the bed. Nice for ventilation. The bed is firm and a good size. Good clean linen and good pillows. Bedside tables and lamps. A small stool in the bay window. Three coat hangers. A shelf and a kettle and tea bags. A fan. An arch through to the shower/toilet with a very nice fretwork three panel screen for privacy! Shower room is a good size and nicely decorated. Stylish black sink with bendy tap; thought I’d broken it. Good sized shower cabinet with twin headed good shower. Lots of hot water and shower gel and good white towels. Good toilet paper. Hand soap. Extractor fan. A courtyard for breakfast and for lounging. It is mostly shaded through the day so a good place to rest in the heat. The host, Thierry, and staff, are good. Thierry speaks very good English and is hard working and helpful. They also run the associated restaurant near the Marie. Which is good.

Beautiful old fashioned house renovated as an hotel, Thierry the host was so welcoming, really looked after me, his restaurant is few minutes from the hotel and the food was excellent!

Thierry is a very welcoming host, and also owns a (the only) restaurant in town. The room was okay, and the bed had a very comfortable mattress! There is a fridge downstairs where you can store your own food if needed. There is also free parking on a local square nearby.

nice rustic feel, well presented. powerful hot shower. Thierry was super welcoming. our dog was also welcomed which was nice. fast & free wifi. fine dining a few mètres away was also very cordial. all in all great value for money.

Quiet town only one restaurant open which is run by same people as hotel but food was excellent and very good value. Worth visiting for restaurant alone but also nice walk by river but not much else to do in town in late February!
