Has the makings of a lovely cottage, but needs a lot of TLC

The bed was very comfortable. The location was nice and quiet. The Cottage had a nice footprint. There was some very interesting old furniture in the cottage. Nice log burner. TV & wifi. Heating was a good system.

Had a lovely relaxed week with my girlfriend and dog

Lovely location in a semi detached cottage but feels detached as very private. Lovely garden in nature and flowers coming up everywhere with a lovely view of the farmers field. Very cosy evenings with a log fire (plenty of logs) and has a kitchen with fridge and cooker. Always hot water available for baths and washing up. It was a really chilled week and 3 minutes away is bus stops to Montrose, Aberdeen, Dundee and a few smaller locations X5 or 107, St Cyrus beach is a 10 minute walk away and well worth a visit. Stella was really nice and helpful

Lovely relaxing break away

Fantastic place to get away from everything and relax. If you’re looking for high tech and mod cons then this isn’t for you. We knew this cottage was in the middle of nowhere and it wasn’t full of modern gadgets and luxuries but it had everything we needed for the 5 days we were there. The bed was very comfy and the house was clean and the log burner was a lovely cosy touch. The back garden had been battered by the recent storms, but that can’t be helped with how many there have been lately. The cottage is in a great location, there’s shops etc 10 mins drive away and it’s close to the beach, again a 10 min drive away. I read previous reviews about the cleanliness and safety of The Cottage, and I feel the owner has really gone out of her way to rectify this as we found the house to be clean and all safety features are in the house. We enjoyed our stay that much, we tried to extend our stay but unfortunately couldn’t due to another booking. I spoke to the owner and she was absolutely lovely! We would definitely return! Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay.

I'm totally disappointed. Wasted £319 on a cottage that is not up to standard. I've complained.

Nothing was pleasant about that property. Under duress had to stay one night. We were left that property by 7.30am following morning. Smelt of dirt damp and unpleasant scent plus tobacco smoke. In need of renovation. Paintwork dirty chipped. Walls dirty, cobwebs, cracked plaster. Light fittings dirty brown with age. Furniture in poor repair. Sette chair throw smelt of dirt and dog smell, dog hair on fabric. Curtains smelt and badly faded. Cracked glass window in poor extension to back of property. Bed linen old faded stained duvet cover. Pillows smelt. No wood kindling left by owner for first night. The fire not cleaned or set. The door poor fitting on multi fuel burner no sign of a carbon monoxide alarm couldn't find smoke alarm fire extinguisher not fire blanket. Felt unsafe, poor going front back door light draught coming in through gaps. Wood live crawling up wall in passage and on floor back door. Kitchen requires replacing cooker old. Extractor fan over cooker top coated with grease. Doors chewed by dogs. Finger plate on door held in place with coloured drawing pin. Front garden uncovered pond beware small children. Lean to outside old covered in dirt moss. In there debris on floor old mop a bike pair skis old dirty throw on garden plastic chair. Lower end of garden dusting scrap metal. Branches rotting on ground danger for children. This is not a wild garden as owner describes. Full of ground elder no where that pleasant no comfortable seating. Remains of a garden fire. Plus I'm a qualified nurse I do not appreciate covid propaganda left by from the owner for all to see.

"Mo" thanks for a fantastic break. Hope to see you again soon

It's a lovely old fashioned VERY pet friendly cottage located just inside a peaceful friendly village. Arrival instruction's were accurate and easy to follow and communication with the property manager was excellent, The wi-fi worked fine but I'm not gaming or streaming movies and whilst most of the equipment in the house is dated it's fully functional. I'm old and it was quite nostalgic ( DVD-VCR combi etc.). The bed was amazing and I loved the corner bath. Obviously with a wild garden and a North Sea wind the place is hard to keep clean but everything that you would touch was. There was a basic supply of cupboard essentials, tea/coffee/sugar, condiments and sauces which I fully appreciated. I ate at the dining table in the extension which has no heating and was quite cold so I wedged open the 2nd bathroom door and the radiator from it warmed both rooms. Ideally you would want a car to explore the area but I used the reliable hourly bus service both north to Stonehaven/Aberdeen and south to Montrose where there are plenty of local and national retailers. The owner has left very detailed information so if you wish to get to the amazing sandy beach/nature reserve and have mobility issues then please follow his advice as the paths from the village are steep. The village has a McColl's store opened until 9pm with great friendly staff and whilst it was pricey and the availability wasn't great I still managed to get by for the five days I was there. ASDA, Sainsburys and Tesco do home delivery to the village. On my trip the local coffee shop was being sold and as a result was closed. If you are travelling with a dog there is a large flat and well lit recreational area accessed via a lane 2 houses north of the shop. If in doubt just look for the floodlights which stayed on until 10pm.
