A lovely older lady runs the place and she was interested in my travels and very helpful. She said she would have liked to help more, but wasn't feeling too well. Really she was very helpful though - she gave me a delicious apple strudel as a welcome, and she did my laundry for me! The room was large and the bed comfortable. It had a private toilet with cistern-top sink (water when you flush) for hand washing (use your own soap). I had somewhere under-cover to park my touring bike. The room was well-ventilated with fly-screen windows, extract fan and air-con options. Note that to lock the room doors you need to push the button on the inside of the handle with the door open, and then pull the door closed as you leave (took me a few minutes to figure out!). Konbini and supermarket options a few minutes walk/ride away.

“My most memorable stay in Japan - incredible value for money and an amazing host”
The lady running the place is an absolute star - she gave me a lift to the base of Mount Ishizuchi so I didn't have to catch the unreliable bus, then that evening she cooked me a delicious okonomiyaki. The place itself is amazingly cheap given what you get - I paid barely more than I normally do for a hostel bed and ended up with a triple room to myself.

“Great value for money. Kind owner”
Great value for money and the staff is really kind. The lady doesn't speak English but can use Google Translate. I speak a little Japanese and she was happy to chat with me. The building and rooms are a little old but the rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable, which is nice if you want to have a good night sleep after a long days of walking the Shikoku pilgrimage. I ordered the Japanese breakfast, which was huge and freshly cooked every morning.

From the outside it's not looking new. But it is clean and comfy. The staff are amazing! The women made for me a take away lunch for my roadtrip on my motorbike. Great time

“Great caretaker, facilities need work.”
The lady caretaker was wonderful, went out of her way to make the stay as pleasant as possible. If it wasn't for her, the rating would be a 6.

“Grandma carrying the show”
Really good value for money. Lovely grandma running it. Waited until 10pm for us to check in. In the morning when we checked out, she even provided us a packed breakfast and dropped us off to the station. She really went above and beyond.

The owner was absolutely adorable. We had a fun night talking and eating together. I would absolutely recomend to take the food option at the hotel to eat a cheap but hearty and traditional japanese meal.

“Basic, but wonderful stay on Shikoku island.”
Nice and convenient hotel that offers place for a group of friends, mountain hikers, cyclists and pilgrims. We staid with a group of five friends on a road trip through Northern Shikoku island. We came by car (we could park at the location for free) and used it as a base to go autumn hiking in the region. It forms a great base from which to drive to Ishizuchi and Iofuji mountains. We staid three nights. The place is basic and sometimes could do with a bit of dusting and TLC (do not expect the luxury of a five star hotel), but the price was very good. The rooms are rudimentary, but had clean bed linen and internet. The temperature was nice and we did not need Aircon (although it was there). The showers and toilet are shared and basic, but we used different onsen in the mountains, after the hike, which can be easily reached if you have a car. The owner, a cute grandmother will make up for the lack of luxury - by far - especially if you can speak a little bit Japanese. We were welcomed with open arms and could count on her for advice on the region and she cooked the most wonderful Japanese/Western breakfast, early in the morning (you need to pay for this, but the price is great dn the food fresh and delicious). Moreover, the owner was most kind and provided small extras, such as delicious cake/pudding and some snacks for the mountain. It made the stay amazing and memorable! Thank you so much! ありがとうございます! We have made wonderful memories and would definitely stay again!
