Overview
Located on top of Kaunispää Mountain, Star Arctic Hotel is situated in Saariselka in the Finnish Lapland Region. Each room features large windows to view the surrounding nature and if lucky, the Northern Lights during winter. A shared sauna is also available. Rooms include a flat-screen TV. Certain rooms feature a seating area for your convenience. You will find a coffee machine and a kettle in the room. The rooms are fitted with a private bathroom. Extras include bathrobes and slippers. A mix of traditional Lappish cuisine and modern dishes are available at the on site restaurant. Wine tasting are also held on site next to the fireplace. There is also a gift shop featuring Sami handcrafted goods. A selection of activities are offered in the area, such as skiing, husky and wildlife safaris, and ice fishing. The hotel also offers ski equipment hire and ski storage. Ivalo Airport is 28 km away.

“Exceptional 360 Views”
Star Artic hotel staff and the setting of the hotel is what makes it such a unique place to enjoy the exceptionally beautiful Finnish landscape. Place at the top of a hill you get mesmerising 360 views of the sun setting over the village below. The food and service are of such a high standard, making it such a memorable stay. Jamie in particular went above and beyond to ensure I had a wonderful stay. I loved it so much I’ve already made plans to visit again in 2027.

“Perfect stay in a winter wonderland”

“Amazing hotel.”
It’s at the highest point of the town. The aurora cabin was very nice and honestly is better than the 5 star one and the same town. We stayed in both. The restaurant is also very nice. Nice touch that you get sleighs to go play.

The location on top of the fell offers amazing and unique views. Staff is exceptionally considerate. Best staff I encountered on my trips so far. Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend the hotel to other and I would like to come back and stay longer. The price was a bit high, especially on a South African exchange rate, but worth it.

“Plesant stay, great amenities, good food, amazing experience”
Location is very nice, we got to see the northern lights right from the property. The room is comfortable and the glass top is very clean and transparent. We are vegetarian, but still breakfast has many options as well. The staff was very helpful to support us, especially Mitali from the restaurant team.

“Great place to enjoy XC skiing”
The room was really comfy, on two floors. The beds were great, in spite of typical Nordic separate mattresses. The views over the valley are beautiful. Other rooms are near and visible, but not obstructive. The reception and restaurant area is spacious and cozy and the breakfast delicious. We traveled with our dog and everyrhing was made easy for us.

very accommodating employees, very flexible with early check-in and late check out. The food at the restaurant is pricey but it was the best food we had in Finland. Service is also great. The location on the hill is amazing, however it can get very windy up there.
