“If I ever travel to Jebel Shams again, I will 100% stay here.”

This location is perfect for visiting Jebel Shams. I originally booked to stay at a "luxury resort" an hour away but decided to stay close to the mountain and get a taste of Omani hospitality. I'm so glad I did. Suleiman owns and runs the property though you'll meet and talk to several different members of his family who bring you breakfast and dinner every day. The location is breathtaking. Sunrise, sunset and night time is incredible. I met other guests and chatted until night. Perfect solo, for a couple or a group of friends. Literally metres away from the start of the Balcony Walk and even after that or hiking the Canyon below, it is a perfect place to rest and recover from a day of adventures.

The hospitality and location are unbeatable. Sunrise views are excellent (even from the bedroom), the food and friendliness of the host were perfect - he shows you a beautiful sunset location as well.

“Great guest house”

Great little guest house right at the start of the balcony walk. Not the easiest drive up but worth it for the spectacular views, especially at sunrise. Ibrahim was an excellent host and it was great trying some home cooked Omani food made by this family. We were able to leave our car at the property for a few hours after checking out which was convenient.

We had a good, atmospheric room. Our village, Sa’ab Bani Khamis, was very small; no restaurants so we were glad with the dinner, cooked by our host. The check in was very nice.

“Jabels Shams perfection”

Everything. It is the most wonderful place, both Ibrahim and Samhiel (sorry for spelling) were the kindest, generous, welcoming men. The room was spectacular with the most wonderful view, 1 minute walk to start of Balcony Walk. There is a basic kitchen to use so I was able to make breakfast for myself and coffee (bring provisions with you if you can). Dinner and breakfast can be provided by host for small fee. Book, you will not be disappointed!

“Wonderful Stay at the Top of Oman”

Wonderful stay at the top of Oman, just steps from the start of the Balcony Walk. Wonderful host and characterful large room with hot water and heater (needed in January). Delicious (carb-heavy) local food. Booked the large room so great sunrise. Wonderful spot. Get here before overtourism ruins it!

Sulaiman was very welcoming and friendly. We were able to cook in the basic kitchen and there was a fire pit to use in the evening. The rooms have both AC and heating, as others have mentioned the beds are quite firm, but comfortable.

We had an incredible experience at Balcony Walk Rest House. Owned and run by a family who have lived in the village for generations, you will receive a very warm Omani welcome and stay in beautiful surroundings, ready to enjoy the wonderful scenery literally right outside your bedroom door. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. The owner made sure we had all the information we needed to undertake the Balcony Walk, including sunset and sunrise timings. We had plenty of sightings of a pair of Egyptian vultures too! Delicious home cooked Omani food available if requested, cooked by his wife and daughter. An unforgettable night (and day) of our holiday in Oman!!!!

Located in the heart of Grand Canyon , just a few minutes walk to the path of Balcony Walk. The host, Mr Suleiman is very friendly, welcoming, warm hearted gentleman . On our first day, he took us to a very unique spot to watch the most beautiful Grand Canyon sunset, and of course , we had a wonderful two nights at his guest house.

“An impressive place”

The location is really great. The canyon is seen in front of the property and the sunrises and sunsets are truly magical. The rooms are very nicely furnished, the beds across the usual rather hard but comfortable and everything was nice and clean. Suleiman and his family were very warm! It was interesting what suleiman told about the area and its development. A big thank you!
