“Beautiful location”

We had such a lovely time at Nena House with Francoise as a welcoming hostess for our travel group of 4 adults and 6 kids (9-16). Being in touch with Francoise while planning the trip was very pleasant and professional. It was very nice she checked out dinner plans on the day we arrived before hand. The traditional houses are a delight, clean and with mosquito nets. The facilities are basic, and fine. The neighbor bar is nice for some festive vibes and a drink. The food is delicious. Eating breakfast in the garden with the beautiful view on the Rwandan hills is like paradise. Francoise is very kind in informing about local walks and in our case we where lucky enough to be there while there was a yearly harvest festival. She offered to go with us. We will never forget the experience of seeing the ceremony and traditional dancing and meeting some people in the village. If you plan a visit or are traveling through Ruhashia (near Kings Palace) we can highly recommend Nenas house!

The views from our room and the garden were beautiful and the breakfast and dinner we had were very good.

The breakfast was good, and the dinner was so copious that it could have taken us through to the next evening if our stomachs had been bigger. The staff is very creative in compensating to the best for the difficulties arising from the rural setting of the house.

We loved the quirkiness of Nena House and its interior decor - especially as we had just been at the Ethno Museum in Huye - ....as well as the garden, its peacefulness, the views and the birds. Nice to have crepes for breakfast, (but please offer honey/lemon, but choco spread?!!) The 4 kms of road to Nena House was not a bit rough, but not as bad as expected - which made it more of an adventure.

“Stellar place to stay!”

We had a lovely stay at Nena House and wish we could have stayed longer than one night! We were met by Everest who checked us in and fixed a small problem we had been dealing with before. He's an awesome guy and took us to the little bar next door to mingle with the locals. The grounds of Nena House and the rooms are lovely and well-maintained. The toilet and shower were a little rustic (of course! Look where you are staying) but they were clean and easy to use. After a wonderful breakfast, we had to leave so didn't have time to explore down by the river or go on any local hikes. I recommend staying for longer than one night! Last thing- the google maps location is accurate, not the booking.com location.

A little gem between Nyanza and Butare. Run by Françoise, a very nice lady who also took us for a walk in the country side. The facilities are basic (no running water, no wifi), but very well done and clean. The accommodation is spacious, cosy, and set in a lovely garden with beautiful flowers and birds. Well recommended!

Original huts with beautiful interior and very spacious. The toilette and bucket shower (hot water included) were easy to use. The food was especially good and the view and garden was wonderful. The service was very good and communication easy. The road to the hut is absolutely okay as long as you have an elevated car with four-wheel drive. We would have loved to stayed longer than one night.

“Relaxing place”

It’s a nice and relaxing place full of birds to watch in the garden. The little house you rent is very spacious and cozy. They had organized it very nicely with a thermos for hot water for the shower. The people working there were very friendly but it was almost impossible for us to understand each other. This made it difficult with food, paying, help how to travel etc. They did their best but language was a challenge.

This is a magical place to experience Rwanda. The road can be a little difficult but managable. We stayed with our family in the cosy houses and made wonderful memories with the children of the village. The dry toilet and bucket shower add a rustic touch to the experience in the comfortable and spacious cottages. The best part of our stay was the wonderful host Francoise and friendly staff. It made the experience truly unique and memorable. We went back a second time because we enjoyed it soo much.

Very nice hotel a bit further away from the main road, you definitely need a four wheel drive to go there. The owner Francoise makes it a special place, it's more like a community support. African style huts, nice food and breakfast, very quiet and beautiful environment. Worth a visit!

“Come for the experience and the view!!”

What a lovely find!! Nestled high on the ridge of one of the many hills, Nena House is an experience. Basic in terms of facilities, but fulfilling all the requirements! Food was great, the room is super clean, and it is just a few kms on the dirt road, all very manageable!

One of my favorite places to stay during my trip to Africa. The atmosphere was just fabulous. Most relaxing and enjoyable leg of my trip. Francoise (the owner) greeted me at the gate as soon as I arrived and made me feel extremely welcome. She cooks amazing food seeing as she puts a bit of a French twist into it. Really made with love. The cabins were clean and cozy. I personally really enjoyed the more grounded showering method, as there is no running water (all the hot & cold water is provided in a very large thermos). Really encompassed more of the rural lifestyle of Rwanda. Francoise made me some tea in the evening and the staff lit a fire throughout the evening. The surrounding village was wonderful and playing some soccer with the children will be a lifelong memory for me. And when it came to check out, I paid a little extra and asked if she could do something special for the kids of the village. She ended up organizing a big dinner for many people of the village and fed them with. Couldn't recommend this place more. Amazing place and amazing people.
