“Calm, amazing lakeside escape and kind, responsive hosts.”
Mattikala Cottages won us over in five minutes. The house is calm, bright, and clean. Everything we needed was there: hooks by the door, sharp knives, comfy beds, quiet corners for a book. The private beach kept pulling us back. Morning coffee with toes in the water, lazy swims after lunch, and a barbecue that turned dinner into a little celebration. Smoke, stars, happy silence. One hell of an experience. We left rested and a little smug that we found this place. We are coming back every year. Thank you, Mattikala.

“Beautiful cabin at an idilic location”
The property was very easy to find, super clean and in a great and peaceful location. It has a sauna and some outdoor games that we used, both very nice pluses! All in all, a lovely place.

There was very good gas grill. The kitchen was very well equipped. Beds were very comfortable. There was enough space for 9 people.

Matikkala cottage was everything we hoped for. Cozy, fully equipped and owner, who was quick to solve any issues. A great stay on a quiet island near Ruokolahti! Good for families.

“All-around great place for family holidays with fantastic service and cozy stay”
The stay at the cottage was exceptional. The property is well maintained, clean, and greatly located with a ~10 minutes walk to the lake and around 10 minutes ride to the local grocery stores. We had our dog with us and there are a plethora of trails for everyone to enjoy (we visited in summer). The place was superbly equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay (and then some). The communication with the property manager and the owner was fantastic - they were extremely helpful (needed some assistance on running a few appliances and the internet) and super responsive.

“Adorable cottage surrounded by forest”
The cottage is just adorable. Staying in the middle of a forest, but still having all the amenities. It is well equipped and there’s a big patio with a BBQ. There were some issues with wifi and the host fixed it immediately. That was very appreciated. There are nice berry picking spots walking distance from the cottage. We just regret not staying longer than 3 nights.
