“Outstanding mini vacation during our stay in Finland”

Wonderfully rustic house with a very modern yet cozy atmosphere. Two bedrooms with double beds and additional places to sleep if needed. Great sauna.

Villa Konttaisenranta is simply stunning! It is absolutely beautiful and really good value for a luxury cabin. The views across the frozen lake and into the woods were incredible and we had an amazing family holiday (2a, 2c) in February 2025. The cabin is tucked away in the woods and has its own double garage and kota. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a sauna. Our children loved sledging down the driveway and toasting marshmallows in the Kota, whilst overlooking the frozen lake. There are lots of windows so we enjoyed watching people on snowmobiles drive whilst we drank hot drinks and warmed up after a day in the snow. It's close to Ruka Village and Valley if you have a car (7ish min drive) and there is a lot to do locally. We enjoyed sledging around the Village and Valley at the designated slopes, a trip to Lamintupa for the kids' snowmobiles, a trip to a reindeer farm for feeding time and a visit to Santa's Cottage. The kitchen was perfect for self catering but there were also lots of places in the Village and Valley for family meals. We would gladly stay at Villa Konttaisenranta again (and live there!!) and recommend it to others. It's pet friendly so we did spot quite a lot of dog poo around the driveway and hair inside, which is the only slightly negative thing we'd say. We knew it was pet friendly though so it wasn't hidden. It didn't spoil the trip but something to be aware of if you have really little children or allergies. It doesn't come with towels or linen as standard but you can hire these for €20 per person. We asked to hire these in advance and assumed that the fee would be taken from us by card at departure but we received a message after check out asking if we'd forgotten to leave the cash. We had, but only because we hadn't been told it needed to be left in cash. We were happy to pay!

“Luxury villa- loved it”

This place is probably the best place we stayed in Finland. Absolutely fabulous. It has a small kota fireplace outside overlooking the lake where you can wait for the northern lights, a sauna for when you come back in from the cold. An indoor log fire. The kitchen amenities are wonderful with dishwasher and all the mod cons. There is a car port with snowshoes inside and more firewood. Luxury villa. Plus we seen the northern lights 2 times out of 3 nights. Outside decking area too for outdoor dining if warm enough! Keybox entry with code provided for self check in. Host was also very comminicative. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

“Gorgeous cottage by a lake”

Beautiful cottage by a lake with own beach & deck area. The location is great near Ruka services, a little over half an hour drive from Riisitunturi and Oulanka National Park (Pieni Karhunkierros). The kitchen is fully equipped, the beds super comfortable, bathroom and sauna great and there were no mosquitos inside :) the view from the big windows was great -but maybe blinds / light curtains would be good for total privacy?
