I only stayed one night at Free Hostels Roma as a solo traveler booking last minute. The customer service was perfect, the staff were lovely, with an opportunity to leave bags before check in and also have a super early check out due to 24/7 reception coverage. The hostel itself has a great vibe, with a bar downstairs and a space set up outside to enjoy some drinks and the sun. When I arrived, there was also an opportunity to sign of for free pasta night, a great addition to the whole vibe and engaging with people. The cabins for sleeping were great; I love when there is a curtain or a sliding "door" solution to have some privacy. I stayed in another hostel for a night during the same trip in Rome and it's safe to say that Free Hostels Roma was the more comfortable option in all sense.

A hostel aimed mainly at young travelers who don’t require many comforts. The room I stayed in was quite small, with beds arranged tightly on one side and a design that lets them close up like lockers, which felt a bit unusual and somewhat impersonal—more like a compact sleeping pod than a traditional room. The overall atmosphere is very functional rather than welcoming. One thing that stood out was that the staff mainly communicated in English and didn’t speak Italian, which felt surprising given the location in Rome. It’s not a bad place for a very short stay, especially if you’re just passing through, but I wouldn’t choose it for more than one night.

Very private pod style beds and lots of locker space, great location near coliseum and metro station, as well as large supermarket. Lots of storage space in bed too.
