“Peaceful setting”

The rooms are fab, everything you need. The different terraces gave both sun and shade. The breakfast was lovely. We did not eat in the evening but had a lovely bottle of wine with some cheese and olives made up from the kitchen. Very peaceful setting, perfect to chill or do some walks. The village is 10mins max, little shop and some restaurants. There was a fab little market on Sunday.

All staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The location was ideal, between the fabulous coast and beaches and the stunning surrounding hills. Our room was extremely comfortable and clean, and very well-equipped. Breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed a fantastic evening meal in the hotel restaurant.

“Tranquility beneath the stars”

In the evenings we ordered for room service breakfast the following day. Freshly squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs but all with an eye to gluten free needs. My partner is coeliac. We ate in the restaurant on two evenings. Delicious but care, portions can be large. Excellent wine collection to complement the food. Dinner can be served outdoors or in the dining room. Our room, 07, was roomy and very comfortable. Our rescued street dog joined us and was made very welcome by all the staff team, ably led by Anna. We had forgotten to bring Sunny Boy’s kibble and with no local stockists, Anna saved the day. He has a new friend for life. I am cautious to write this less Oro y Luz becomes over popular but this is the finest hotel I have stayed in for many a while. If you enjoy being at one with the peace and quiet of the Cabo de Gata, broken only by the odd sheep bell, look no further. Thank you Anna

“Small oasis of a hotel run by charming couple”

The hotel is 7 minute walk from Rodalquilar, lovely very small town . It is run by a young couple who could not be more friendly and helpful. The hotel is pretty small and our room had a kitchenette that folded away into a fitted unit. We barely used it. Comfortable bed and good aircon. You exited the room onto your own private decking area which was screened off from neighbour by planting. It had table, chairs and two sunbeds. Then steps into the garden and very nice swimming pool. We used this for a short swim each day after what was a walking holiday and had it to ourselves. It was surrounded by sunbeds and i cannot imagine it ever being that busy. This part of Spain can be very hot and the pool was so welcome. We found we needed to use a washing machine and the staff helpfully let us use a hotel machine. Breakfast was served in the restaurant with tables spaced far apart. You are asked to chose what you want the day before and that worked fine. Everything freshly made and very tasty. The restaurant was closed two nights of the four while we were there but we did eat on our last night and the food was great. Alfredo takes great care to explain the food and rightly proud of what they achieve. Good drinks selection as well.

“Unique place set in an unforgettable spot”

The staff are really great, super helpful and freindly. The location is beyond amazing, ten minute walk from the beautiful tiny town of Rodalquilar with it's great bars and restaurants. You're constantly surrounded by palms and cacti and birds and nature of all kinds it's a truly special setting. The pool area and the pool itself are great, set amid such drama with the surrounding mountains, really unique. My corner room (no.5) had such huge windows taking in all of that amazing scenery and a great wrap around sun deck. Lovely 35 minute walk to a very nice nearby sandy beach, great bar 5 mins walk away, others not much further.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable. The kitchenette was adequate for heating up a meal with pots and pans, cutlery and crockery. The breakfast was delicious.

Oro y Luz is the perfect place for someone who appreciates nature and still wants to have excellent food, fine lodging and superior service. Everyone on staff is wonderful, and I particularly like Ana, who went out of her way to welcome me, recommend local beaches and sights, and accommodate my early check out time by having breakfast prepared for me ahead of time. The restaurant is great, both breakfast and dinner are phenomenal. I hope I will be able to return soon to stay here again.

“A Golden Light Shimmers Effervescently”

Anna and Alfredo are molto bene! Those two are a credit to this hotel and make sure that guests are treated to an experience that is beyond expectations. I would love to adopt them both but they might think that’s a bit weird, which it is of course. If I could live here, I would. As Arnie once said, I’ll be back!

The location was good and all the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent and the idea of placing your order and time the night before excellent.
