The location here is really good. The room is old and run down, the window in your bedroom looks into a family's yard and the kids are always there looking into your room. The room has a fan on the ceiling that rotates around the whole room, it didn't do very much to make you comfortable. The place doesn't turn the lights on at night so you can't see too get your key into the lock of your door. The staff was nice.

Nothing, this was probably the worst place we have stayed in 5 months.

Super cheap food and accommodation! Maria is really nice and friendly. Very basic, no WiFi in rooms and water stopped working once but for an economy option I don’t think something to complain about. Opposite a really good coffee shop with good wi fi if you’re remote working.

“Basic, but worth it”

We booked first in El Zopilote (because of the permaculture and vegan friendliness for my friend), but I could not stand the cockroaches that came crawling out during the night in the jungle. That's why I looked around for other accommodation and I found a room here. Like others already said, it is basic, but it al works. There was a swiveling fan in the ceiling (makes noise). Maria and the other staff were helpful, but they don't speak English. Didn't test the food, but it certainly isn't expensive. Very close to a bus stop.

Maria doesn't really speak english, but she definitely trys hard to make you feel comfortable! Also, the food is really good, you have to try the filete del pescado & banano con leche! We did not meet too many other backpackers in the 4 nights we stayed but nevertheless worth a visit.

Maria is a sweatheart! Nice to stay to explore the island.

“Very bad 👎”

This was very bad experience for me at all... Very dirty bathroom :(((. 1 room with 7 beds, very thiny separated from the bathroom, absolutely not any 1 piece of the furniture, where you could only lay your things :((. I just did the tour on the kayaks to the wetlands at that day. So, I washed my underwear, leggins and top and laid them over the only possibility here - the front of another bed. The next morning I left and forget my clothes here. I went back at cca 1 p.m. and told it to Maria, the owner. She was irritated with me, that I laid my things on the front of the bed, which wasn't used (= clean) and told me, that everything is clear here 👎 and that it is not possible and that she thrown my clothes into the garbage 😠! But there was no anyone possibility, where to put my wet and washed (and clean!!) clothes from the tour :(! She was irritated, spoke to me at least 5 mitues like to a little girl (I'm over 40 ;)) and was making jokes with the local worker there about my used underpants (this joking I already ignored). Never more 😠!! Guys, go and spend your money wherever else in the nearby!! Here are many nice places for nearly the same price (8-10$). Hostel Los Cocos, El Zopilote, El Pital, and so on... At Hostal Maria, I got the feeling, that for the local people as a tourist, I'm only the machine for the money and this is the only interest here 😠...

Maria is super nice and makes you feel very welcome. The omelette for breakfast was amazing.
