Overview
Set just 250 meters from Laugarvegur shopping street, this central Reykjavik hostel offers guest rooms and dormitory rooms with free Wi-Fi access. Harpa Concert Hall is 1 km away. A seating area and a wardrobe feature in all rooms at Kex Hostel. Some rooms have a private bathroom with shower. Guests have access to a communal kitchen on site. A buffet breakfast is available each morning, while other meals are served at the in-house Flatus Restaurant. I was greeted with antisemitic messaging on the wall as I walked in, which I attempted to remove twice only for someone to replace it straight away each time. I felt really uncomfortable staying here and it negatively impacted my time in Reykjavík. I wish I’d paid more for somewhere more tolerant, kind, and accepting.

“Great value for money with clean facilities and ammenities.”
rooms were clean - communal facilities. Loved the ecclectic feel of the decor. Bar area was functional, service was great. Staff were able to host and answer any questions regarding locating local items or locations.

Everything, most relaxed Hostel I was @ in Reyjavik. Loved the antique decor, the view, single bathrooms and equipped kitchens and free food shelves. Cheap expiditions can be booked over their website and Pickup spot is nearby. I was so lucky to see the aurora on my last night there Thank you for the room upgrade.

“A fantastic hostel in a perfect central location”
-Excellent location right in the city centre. The bus stop is only 5 minutes away, the BSI terminal is about a 15-minute walk, and the Bónus supermarket is just around the corner. -I stayed in a private room, which was very comfortable, spacious, and cosy. -Plenty of toilets, clean, and equipped with hair dryers. -The staff were amazing, welcoming, and very helpful. -I was able to leave my luggage at reception for 6 hours after check-out, which gave me the freedom to walk around the city centre and make the most of my time there.

“Excellent service”
I had an issue with another guest who was rude and the manager immediately fixed it and was very friendly. This time everything was very clean and the spaces tidy.
