A lovely greek stylish cozy place for those who likes quiet wide and almost wilde (late May early June, 2026) seashore and cleanest sea. Athena rooms is located in 20 min (by bus) from the medieval Rethimno downtown and 10 min walk from the coolest city beaches and cafees. Totally amazing hosts - 2 sisters and their mom, so hospitable and helpful from the very first contact. Helped me to find and pay for transport from the hotel to the airport Heraklion directly in same price and comfort as the local KTEL service. The room was super clean and equipped by all necessary kitchen supplies. My balcony was on front of the rural garden area with amazing palms and sunset views. Thank you so much for the amazing relaxing time! 😊 💕

Size of the room was big enough. Everything was clean. just opposite of an amazing restaurant probably the best one of the island.

“The best of both worlds”

Athina is a great value central base where you get the best of both worlds - beach within walking distance and old town charm a bus ride away. Lovely family-run place. The nicest hosts imaginable. The place is very clean and nicely furnished. Beds comfortable. Balconies are big. Air conditioning in each room - decent air conditioning! We got the larger family rooms (basically an apartment) so we could cook breakfast & lunch.

Great location, just a couple of Kilometers from Rethymno town, just 200m from the beach, and 200m from the Express way which offers easy access to Chania and Heraklion. The room was very large with big double bed (2 singles pushed together), settee, air con, tv, bedside lights, fridge and basic food prep things like knives, forks, cups, plates and kettle. The bathroom was also very large with shower, sink, toilet and large mirror. Plenty of hot water too! Hosts, Athina and Helena were perfect! Welcoming, friendly, helpful, and informative. If you want a quiet place to stay but still have access to tavernas, restaurants, supermarkets, beach etc then Athina is the place to stay! Highly recommended!

“Fantastic place”

Second time I spent time in this place and once again it was time well spent. Apartments are perfect, clean and well-equiped with everything we needed. Cleaning service every two days, changing towels and everything, really nice. The location is great, close to the beach, shops, very good restaurant on the other side of the street and bus stops with buses going to the city centre (which is in walkable distance tho) Great place, great value for money.

Best place to stay around Rhetimno if you are seeking some privacy and authentic Greek experience. Here are some highlights: √ beach is on 4 mins walking distance √part of the beach close to the apartment was always empty so you won't find crowds here like in Chania √owner allow to rent for free umbrella and chairs √there was a tiny seaview from my balcony even if it wasn't in description. I had a view of the garden and saw donkeys and goats wandering around which was heart touching experience √i have received even raid plugs for mosquitos! -picturesque sunrises from the balcony. √the best taverna i have tried around Rhetimno area is just 2mins walk √ there is a small taverna right on the beach to have a coffee or snack and it's not touristy √Lidl is approximately 15mins walk, there are two three shops within 5mins walking distance √-wifi signal was strong and phone was charging quickly √room has necersailly kitchen equipment (apart from oven) to prepare some breakfast (cups, cutlery, plates,kettle, fridge,freezer, french press for coffee and microwave) √owner respect the privacy of their guests and they don't bother you, it's a family run business so you also contribute for local people by renting this place

“Great find close to beaches and tavernas and free parking”

the two sisters who run the place are lovely so helpful. it was great to have a car park directly outside. I loved that it was close to a fabulous Greek taverna and some great beaches

The room and the hotel in general were 100% clean and comfortable (very comfortable bed). The terrace outside the hotel and the balcony in the room were lovely. My room was quiet and bright. Easy parking, shops, beach and restaurants nearby, access to the national road to Chania/Herakleion round the corner. The owners are nice and helpful. The room has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. It's a 45 minute walk into Rethymno 's old town, or a short bus ride. Ideal place to stay :)
