The guesthouse is basically a big villa with separate rooms and large common area with kitchen. Location is best for exploring etna region, but still good enough to get to other areas as well, provided you have a car. Umberto and Lydia come every morning with great breakfast and a little chat, then you are on your own. Overall the feeling is like staying with your family, very warm. The house is very cosy, basically as if a family is living there. Just bear that in mind, it doesnt necessarily has to be best for everyone - If you prefer anonymous, sterile environment.

“Very calm stay”

Everything is clean and smells good, the hosts are very friendly and wants to make your stay as smooth as possible. I had to leave early in the morning and they adjusted breakfast time from 07:00 to 06:30 just for me. Very welcoming hosts and beautiful home. Hidden gem near Mount Etna.

We were surrounded by the loving atmosphere. Umberto and Lydia are such a warmhearted couple! And those views from the balcony at sunset ... absolutely wonderful!

The hosts were an absolutely amazing sweet couple. They made us feel welcomed and were both helpful and friendly. They speak limited English, I speak limited Italian, but with some help from google translate we made it work. Since we were between seasons we had the whole place to ourselves. Very cozy. A delicious breakfast served daily on the terrazza, spectacular! The views were unbelievable. Since we arrived on Monday, and many restaurants were closed, they called their friends restaurant and they opened special for us. Our hosts went above and beyond. The small town and surrounding area were an excellent getaway from the large cities of Sicily. Just to note: the setup is perfect for families or friends or groups traveling together, since there are shared bathrooms, depending on who else books. Large shared living room and kitchen. So basically, upper floor has 2 rooms: 1 double and 2 singles with shared bathroom. Which is where my friend and I stayed : 1 room each and 1 bathroom between us. The second area on the main floor, was by the kitchen. There was 3 rooms and 1 shared bathroom. 1 room was a small space with 2 beds, bunk style. Other 2 rooms were normal size (don't remember the bed size, as we were not using them). Parking included, gratis.

This house Is a true Oasis after an Etna experience. The beautiful view from the terrace together with the beer the owner greeted us with, were wonderful. A great home-like atmosphere with owners who trully care how u feel in their house. We also appreciated chatting with Umberto about his life-long experience of being a guide at Etna. And we were sorry we had not known Umberto had his tourguide company ať Etna. We would have gone up with him and learned from him. Breakfast was quite lavish. Homecake from Umberto's wife delicious. We greatly recommend this accomodation and we definetely will come back! Thank u

“Great hospitality at this excellent guesthouse”

Umberto and Lidia are such good hosts, taking great care of their guests, with a particularly good breakfast in their spacious guesthouse, well situated in the atmospheric village of Ragalna on the southern slopes of Etna. We also appreciated the recommendation for dinner at a nearby trattoria. Car parking and good Wifi too. Great place to stay if you’d like a qualified guided excursion up the volcano, which can be organised by Umberto. Thank you both!

Visit Magma House if you're planning to spend a night around Etna, The energy of this place, and it's hosts is just amazing, and I wished we had more time to chat with the owners. Umberto and his wife are very caring of the guests, and we felt almost like a part of a family. He also recommended us a restaurant, one of the best family-like experiences in Italy. The room was warm, and with the possibility to warm it up even more with AC (in January). Even though we were the only guests in the house, hosts prepared us an amazing and tasty breakfast in the morning. I would recommend this place (especially if you're interested in Etna), and hope to come back one day!

“Best place in the world!”

Lidya and umberto are the nicest people we ever met. They did everything possible to make us feel home. Their house is very big and comfortable, rooms are big, clean, and beautiful. Very big bathtub. They have all you need to feel at home. We had a great breakfast, tasty and fresh, every morning lidya made us fresh bread and cake 😍 we were a family with 2 kids and our friend. We all had our privacy. We are definitely going to come back again soon. Lidya and umberto really got into our hearts and our kids started calling them gradma and grandpa. I recommend this place as the best place in sicily! Oh and they also got my husband a really good cake for celebrating his birthday!! Best time ever ! ❤️❤️❤️

Umberto and Lydia are great. They make you feel like at home. Willing to help you with all you need. The House has excelent location and Is perfect base to explore Mt. Etna. We have really enjoyed our stay 👍.
