Athelstaine House is a lovely BnB, clean and close to shops and beach. Although there is no face to face check-in, the hosts replied to any texts promptly and gave me an early check in and there was a nice verandah with table and chairs. A good safe place to stay for a single woman.

“Uncaring and unresponsive management - do not waste your money here”
The managers (Laurel and her team) of this venue are not at all helpful. They are a contactless venue but do give you a mobile number which is supposedly 24/7 support with your stay. Unfortunately they do not answer that number and although they promise to get back to you if you leave a message or a text, they do not do so. Even the landline number for bookings is rarely answered and you cannot leave a message there as it’s mailbox is full. They will take your money for things not provided and do not provide any recourse for discussion. I also notice that when other negative reviews have been posted in all honesty, they reply antagonistically. Perhaps they just need a lesson in how to be human alongside what constitutes true hospitality. This venue is not a hospitality venue, it is merely a scam. I do not recommend Athelstane House at all - save yourself a nightmare - book somewhere else

The guesthouse is well located and has a relaxing feel about it as soon as you walk in. My room felt lovely and was nicely decorated. The lounge was enjoyable to sit in and I could use the utensils to have the take way that I had brought in.
