The only good thing about the hotel was the air conditioning was quiet so you could sleep peacefully at night. The beds were firm and not worn out. My wife wants soft beds. So 50/50. The pool was nice and was maintained by a very dedicated man. I'm writing here of what was not good due to the limited characters in not good field. Also I will need to claim refund from Booking.com! The hotel is indescribably dirty and worn out, and more reminiscent of a hostel or a 2 star Chinese hotel. It has nothing to do with a 4 star hotel, and you also have to pay 10€ per person per day in tax. It's rude! Unfortunately we had booked 2 rooms. One for 2 weeks room no. 214 and the other for 4 days room no. 98. We believe that the hotel can only be used for 1 night in case you have to leave early the next morning and not eat breakfast. You would think that the room numbers were put on the doors by a kindergarten. The pictures speak for themselves. The poor students who were employed at the reception did not have it easy with the many complaining guests and an indifferent administration. The 2 young uneducated women in hotel business, did their best despite the extremely poor working conditions. It turns out that the hotel has been bought recently and has also been given a coat of paint all over it. The counter itself was painted black and it was already worn out and looked terrible. By the front door there was mouse shit every day!!! 🤮 The pictures speak for themselves. A mother and her daughter worked in the kitchen. They also had a hard time because of the poor facilities and had to wash all the dishes manually. This resulted in not so clean cutlery, plates etc. In addition, the dining tables had a textured surface and were impossible to clean. To be continued in the next field of what was not liked.

On a hillside 15 mins walk to the port, 5 mins drive. Great view of a small harbour and airport runway, but the noise didn't disturb us. Breakfast is varied. Staff friendly and helpful.

After a minor renovation, the hotel reopened in June this year (2025). Its location is excellent, especially for those who come to Skhiatos to watch the arriving planes, because from the balcony of the hotel reception (where you can have breakfast) and from the pool (standing) you can see the runaway. The centre and the airport (with a small suitcase) can be reached on foot, although the last 300 metres to the hotel is a steep climb. There is plenty of (free) parking for rented vehicles. Breakfast is reasonably varied (muesli, cold cuts, eggs, sausages and pastries, fruit) and everything is replenished when you run out. The staff are very nice, smiling and friendly, especially Garifallia from reception. The atmosphere is family friendly. The pool is large (but after about five metres it gets deeper than two metres!), clean and the water is a pleasant temperature. There are enough umbrellas and sun loungers and a bar. The room was cleaned daily (if you left the key at reception). There is working free Wifi, air conditioning, hair dryer and a safe.

We didn’t expect luxury, but we found something even better – a hotel full of heart. The staff made us feel like family, especially Irene at reception, lovely Maria who kept our room spotless, and the amazing manager Nikos. The location is great – close to the airport, beaches, and just a short ride to Skiathos Town. Anamar may be older, but it has soul. We’ll gladly come back!

The rooms were not ready before 19 pm, when we were promised it will be ready for 15 pm, and one of the rooms had a salamander in it which the receptionist told us not to worry about because salamanders is not dangerous. The receptionist also wouldn’t give us a refund, and were arguing over it was not 4 hour delay, but rather 3.5 hours- which also is a really late check-in. The rooms were overall not clean. Will not recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at Animar, the welcome we received was superb, the location was quiet but not too far from town and the hotel is bright and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent too. I would thoroughly recommend the Animar and will look to book there again on our next trip to Skiathos.
