The common areas were great, the rooms too (large bed!), lots of activities on offer (including fantastic yoga), bikes for rent, and perfectly located in the village. The staff is super friendly and even helped me retrieve my raincoat that I'd left in my room! I highly recommend it.

It says “Home Away from Home” at the door, and it truly is! Love all the details of this place, including a yoga space and outdoor gym. They rent out bicycles as well with guest rates. Excellent Wi-Fi even for those who work online. Definitely recommended :)

Everything was great and smooth, private parking was essential and appreciated. Hot water and great bathroom in the Surfers Paradise room Room was big and main bed was very comfortable

“A great and homey stay in Puerto Viejo”

A great stay, close to the town and safe to walk at night. There was a nice path over the road to the beach. Staff were really nice and have so much information about what to do. Also a lot of birds and frogs in the gardens which was so cool!

The staff is great and everyone is friendly and helpful The hostel is clean and the outdoor area is large, with everything you need: pool table, gym area, lots of hammocks, bikes to rent... The location is perfect, between Cocles and the center of Puerto Viejo. Rooms are clean The hostel provides you a summary of all the things there are to do during the day

“A lucky choice”

Very good hostel with great staff, active and thoughtful management. Lovely garden and yoga space, and plenty of space in general. I liked seeing the hostel pets around. Met good people and slept very well!

Great place to stay. Cosy, lots of areas to hang out. Yoga room and place to excersise which I didn’t know! Central but quite too. Loved this!

The place and the location was optimal! You can rent the bike and they organize some yoga classes every day (which you have to pay). The staff was friendly and they answered all my doubts.

“Best hostel ever!”

La Ruka Hostel is a magical place. It’s nestled in the jungle, with an open-air kitchen, a gym, a yoga space and even an ice bath. It’s so easy to spend time there, when you wake up and see the sun shining through the leaves, you can’t help but feel peaceful and happy. The reception area is so cozy, I loved hanging out there. Everyone working at the hostel is so lovely, from the cleaning ladies to the construction workers to the yoga teachers. The volunteers working at reception are incredibly friendly and welcoming and they create a beautiful environment. The backpacker’s community is made up of the most open-minded, kind-hearted and interesting people, and La Ruka seems to attract the best of them. I loved getting to know all the other guests. This place gifted me with new experiences, a new outlook on life and helped me notice what truly matters. Staying here you will meet people that will become friends for life and live in an incredibly beautiful place. I am so grateful for having discovered this beautiful place and can’t wait to be back!

Clean dorms, great location, lovely facilities. Pretty social hostel but definitely not a party atmosphere which was nice. Kitchen was really well equipped and the yoga lessons in the morning were great
