We lived in the private room with shower and toilet. Everything was fine. We got a breakfast. The price and quality’s is good. It’s about 5 min from beach to walk.

Great hostel, we loved the outdoor kitchen with so much space and equipment! Staff was great and breakfasts were also nice addition. Good location as it was so quiet- not by the main road and bars.

Great facilities, really well equip kitchen with plenty of space to accommodate multiple guests preparing food at once. The included breakfast was delicious. Rooms were clean and bathrooms cleaned daily. There is one bathroom to each private room and two dorms, but there are also additional showers and toilets so never had any issues. A couple of streets back from the main street so nice and quiet but only a 5 minute walk to the hive of activity. All staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. We also made use of the facilities at another local hostel this one has an agreement with, being able to go to the pool was the cherry on top of the cake! Really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

The hostel is spacious and defenitely has a beautiful, well-equipped kitchen. That's a big plus. The room was nice too, with a comfortable mattress and a fan.

The garden with lounge chairs is nice. Because you are at the edge of town we saw lots of howler monkeys in the trees surrounding the hostel. Its nice that there is free filtered water.

best hostel kitchen I’ve ever seen!! everything’s super clean and new, also the staff is really nice and welcoming (: the atmosphere was super chill and you can go anywhere on foot, including the spectacular playa negra!

“Excellent Hostel in a great location”

As a solo female traveller Kalunay was perfect - really nice friendly vibe, quiet at night and great location. Double Room is basic but was perfect for what i needed - The hostel was quiet so I had solo use of the shared bathroom. I extended my stay twice so highly recommend this hostel. They are also installing a new extended kitchen for guests which will be great when finished.

Beautiful and relaxing hostel in Puerto Viejo. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The hostel felt very safe too. There are hammocks to relax in and the outdoor kitchen is really well-equipped with everything you need.

We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom and we liked the warm welcome and all the useful tips for our trip from Yiannis and team, as well as the delicious breakfast and coffee that was offered every morning! Location is also good, surrounded by nature and not at all loud during night. Loved the music selection in the communal area. Warm water was always available and daily cleaning in the bathroom was really appreciated.

The owner is incredibly kind and goes out of his way to help with any questions you have. If you need transportation, he arranges it for you right away, which is a standout quality of his service. However, kindness alone cannot make up for the condition of the place.
