I loved the location, so peaceful and amongst nature. Amy is lovely, welcoming host. I loved sitting on my little balcony with the sights and sounds of nature all around me.

Amy is a fantastic host. When I had to change my arrival time, she couldn’t have been more understanding. She was kind, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about the area. The other guests were lovely and some of them have stayed before, which speaks for itself. Her dogs and cat were super friendly too. I only stayed one night, but I’d easily return if I was coming to Puerto Viejo in the future.

The house is super cosy and you can hear and see all kinds of animals. Amy is the best host, super friendly and always helpful! Also it's nice that the place is a bit outside of Puerto viejo but close enough to be in the centre in about 5 minutes walking and the beach is of course also super close :)

Nice Caribbean style and atmosphere. Lowkey, relaxing. Not luxery!, but felt "local" and a bit like living there. Kitchen area where people could meet, but there was not so many while I was there in the low season. Very nice owner.

“Perfect distance from Puerto viejo”

The common areas are great for some down time, and Amy keeps the place spotless. Stepping across the street to the beach makes it effortless to go for a swim and then come back to dry off and get changed. The garden is beautiful and attracts lots of interesting birds. I was happy to be slightly away from the bustle of Puerto Viejo, but the walk into town is a short one that I felt safe making after dark. Also very close to the bus stop for Cahuita / Limon!

Our stay here was absolutely lovely. The best part was that we were just chilling on a balcony and suddenly saw a sloth on the tree just a few meters away! Also many other animals. The house is only a few minutes from the center (and barely any distance from the beach) and it still feels like you're in the middle of the jungle. The rooms are basic and the bathrooms are shared, but the whole place is really cute and a very good value for money. It is also beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well-equipped and a good place to hang out. There is a safe place to store a bike. There is a hot water in the shower, not that it's necessary considering the temperatures, but still. The owner is very sweet and helpful too!

“Perfect place to stay for a solo traveller”

The perfect haven for a solo traveller. Just far away enough to the hustle and bustle but within east reach of everything. Loved the garden, fresh eggs and animals. Amy was a fantastic host

“Good but mind the roaches”

Really nice host who is always there if you need something; the beach and town are really close by. Opening the door to the balcony we were able to see monkeys and sloths.

Waking up by the howling of the howling monkeys and singing birds was just lovely and something I will not quickly forget. If you want a jungle experience, while also being close to the beach and Puerto Viejo (5 min walking), then this is the place. Amy is a very kind host.

“Pura Vida vibes”

Very close to the town centre, but not noisy. Equiped shared kitchen, if you want to use it. Few shared showers, so there was never a line. Staying in this place is all about the good vibes and not the comfort.

The location is great for nature lovers. Wall paintings are beautiful. Nice kitchen. Nice cat and Amy is lovely

Loacation is great. Very friendly and helpfull management. It is a fun stay, beautiful environment and quiet. And only 5 minutes walking to the town.

“Great unique experience living in the jungle beach house”

Great and unique experience sleeping in the jungle. We had a lovely balcony which looked out on to a banana plant. The facilities were great, and they were clean and tidy. Short walk to town centre.

Really nice comfortable and clean with well stocked kitchen. Very chilled out place.I spent quite a lot of time there chlling, reading and writing which is what I needed at that point in my journey..

“Lovely escape for 3 nights”

Loved my 3 days there . Would have stayed longer. 5 mins walk to town and 1 min to beach yet just 50 metres from the road and it's jungle - a Sloth and Howler Monkeys were in the trees above my room to greet me. No bites at all (November). Great kitchen if you want to cook for yourself. Comfortable beds and fans. Peaceful. Amy was so helpful for any questions, and it was a good sociable location for a single traveller with only 5 rooms there and a layout that means you do see each other. Good value for money for a small comfortable guesthouse. For the adventurous traveller not those wanting luxury.

I loved my stay at secret Jungle beach house. Amy was so welcoming and helpful with any tips for my trip! The rooms with a balcony make you feel like you are in the jungle - I saw monkeys and squirrels from my bed. Very peaceful place, 5 mins walk from puerto Viejo and a couple of minutes walk from playa negra (which is amazing For sunsets!!)

This is the place for you if you want to be near the amazing town, 4 mins walk, but somehow in the cutest little place with a sloth outside the bedroom and lovely owner and pets. Not for you if you are a partier, allergic to dogs cats or Chooks or too tall. It’s a quaint little dreamboat of a house with murals all over the wall and the NICEST guests always up for a little chat. Host is super welcoming and warm. Well equipped kitchen, cute facilities. Bikes for hire. Lots of space to hang your towels etc. although they probably won’t dry due to humidity. We loved our stay here. It’s about the nicest, homiest, loveliest that ‘basic’ accommodation can be! Thank you.

Amy was an awesome host, super friendly and gave us a lot of tips. We had a balcony directly looking into the forest and overall the hostel had a good location, you can go by foot to multiple locations and a busstation is nearby. We felt really welcomed and I would always choose the hidden jungle beach house in Puerto Viejo again.
