“Excellent stay at Chilamate”

We loved our stay at Chilamate. Beautifully maintained bungalows and grounds. The lodges are clean and comfortable. Georgi, our host, was very attentive and friendly. Great location within walking distance of Puerto Viejo but set away from the main crowds, also easy to get Ubers in the area. Thanks for a great stay!

Beautifully maintained property. All staff were wonderful. Excellent communication.

Short walk from busy Puerto viejo. Some decent restaurants not in town, but walkable from the property. The lounge/kitchen is open with curtains for privacy. The door to bedroom is lockable. Really quiet. Just nature. We heard the Howler Monkeys nearby, and saw many birds. The area is very quiet down a private lane.

“A wonderful stay!”

We really enjoyed everything about the stay! Great location with a short walk to Playa Negra and walkable to the “center” of Puerto Viejo. Other sights like Cahuita National Park are easily reachable by car. The host was very nice and responsive. All the amenities were great. The kitchen was well equipped, the bed was comfortable and the shower had hot water and good water pressure. In general, anything you might need to stay a few days was available.

“Cute house next to the beach”

The house is very comfortable, it's simple but you have everything you need. It's located directly across the road to Playa negra and you have a secured parking spot next to the house. Supermarkets and the old town of Puerto Viejo are nearby. The hosts are really kind. It's very calm and you can hear the animals in the morning.

Quiet location, but easy walk into town. Great set up for two couples. Pleasant atmosphere. Nice to meet the owner and chat briefly. We didn’t cook there, but looked like it would have been great to make a meal and eat at the big table.

Very clean and airy. Good size bed. Very helpful staff. Although the kitchen was open to the elements, it stayed dry during the rain and felt very secure.

Beautiful house very close to playa negra (walk 3minutes). Aircon is great and bathrooms are beautiful. (There is no front door, the living is open to the outside, the lock is on the bedroom door).

Fantastic little house. Clean. Met the caretaker and he was great. Good location, minutes from the bus, beach (playa negra). Also has a local store at the end of the street. 10 min walk into town

A nice and quiet place, 200 m away from the beach playa negra and if you walk, round about 25 minutes to puerto viejo. Giorgio was very helpful and a really friendly guy. We enjoyed our stay!

Fabulous property in a beautiful forest setting. 2mins from the blackest yet softest sand. The nicest and most helpful host. Sent on food and transport options as well as Mexico options for my friends going there next.
