Great overall experience right next to rainforest that you could explore by yourselves.

“In the heart of nature”

This really is a super location in the biodiversity corridor. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and really knew their wild life. We had dinner and breakfast. Both buffet style, tasty food and wide range of options. We saw and heard so many birds, even tho we arrived 5.30pm and left by 9am.

The staff is super nice and made our stay perfect. It’s in the rainforest so you are totally immersed.

It’s situation next to the river and forest. The relaxed environment of the property itself. The staff were excellent.

Really liked the thought that had gone into the Chilamate ethos. The people working there were very helpful and passionate about their work. We enjoyed the food when we ate there and walking the trails round the lodge. We booked our white water rafting through the lodge and the company they used were the best - Rios Pura Vida, I would highly recommend them.

We loved the location and wildlife. The friendly and knowledgeable staff were always ready to help. Amazing place to relax and take time to reflect. Delicious food. Great walk to breakfast over the river.

“Rainforest sanctuary in need of a bit of an update.”

The owners are doing a worthy thing in protecting her rainforest and giving people access and education to this environment. Bang in heart of rainforest. Right on river alongside. Lots of birds and wildlife. Staff very helpful and good food. River rafting - with company recommended by them - was very very good. River was high but guides were excellent and felt is very good hands. Saw sloths, toucans, howlers and king fishers as we rafted.

“Amazing and hugely friendly staff who respect the environment”

The staff were so lovely and helpful in particular Geneir and leana and the food very tasty and good for vegetarians. The only negative is the tours on site are expensive. In contrast the horse riding we thought was very reasonable and huge shout out for Alberto Quintana with the Hacienda Pozo Azul horse company. He’s very experienced and takes great care of inexperienced riders . Overall this property has huge respect for its environment and are leaders in the field

“Loved it with young kids”

Stayed with our 4 year old and 9 month old. Fantastic because you don't have to go far to feel like you're really trekking in the rainforest. They have wellies to borrow when it rains and torches for walking around at night. We stayed in the family suite which is the other side of the river and absolutely huge! We really recommend breakfast and dinner too! Watched hummingbirds from the hammocks.

Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful location and self guided walking trails to see lots of nature.

“Spacious accommodation, friendly staff, lots of activities, tasty food”

The food was delicious and plenty to eat and choose from. The staff are really friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The trails around the grounds are perfect and you really are in the rainforest. The accommodation was incredible. We stayed just outside of the retreat in a two bedroom apartment. Even though we didn’t realise it wasn’t actually in the retreat, it exceeded our expectations. The staff would walk us over with flash lights at dark and provided umbrellas if it was raining. It was as also next to where we parked our car. The facilities were good, we made cheese toasties one night!

We liked the tree house, help with bags to and from car was good. The food was very good as offered plenty of vegetarian options. Use of Wellington boots for hollering was helpful. Staff were friendly and generally helpful.

The food was uniformly delicious. The owners and staff couldn’t have been more helpful organizing tours. The cabins were rustic but charming and the landscape was breathtaking.
