The first room was unacceptable. The second room much better. I was charged an extra $100 per night. I recommend staying here. Mostly because of the rooms. Also, no lift but a lot of stairs.

The suite is fantabulous if you want an ocean facing room. It is spacious and offers great views of the bay. You can literally hear the ocean (loudly) but it's soothing after initial adjustment. The villa has old world mexican charm. It is spacious. Mexican peso ride to old town. But yeah, not walking

“A fairy tale stay for peace lovers”

Room Raphael: Imagine waking up and watching the ocean from your bed (a very comfortable bed with the smoothest sheets). Then you start the day with your yoga routine from the enormous private terrace overlooking the beach. Just a few steps up and you are served an abundant breakfast a la carte by Eric or Giovanni who are always and discreetly available for all your whims (a cocktail by the beach? sunshade and chairs right by the water? get ready to be spoiled). You then have the hard choice between spending the morning at the beach right outside the magnificent historic building that the infrequent passers-by stare at in awe, or hanging out by the small pool with a magnificent view of the waves crushing into the rocks, or just leave the cozy nest in search of adventures both north (el Malecon de Puerto Vallarta, playa Amapas, playa los Muertos, Islas Marietas etc.) and south (Boca de Tomatlan, Jardin Botanico, Los Arcos de Mismaloya). Either way, you will always want to be home by sunset that you can admire from the rooftop common terrace. You will feel safe thanks to the discreet Security guard monitoring the area and will enjoy fireworks most nights from the comfort of your own private space. Every little corner of the entire house will amaze you with its character and detail that will throw you back in time, from the architecture, the original tiles, the Mexican furniture, the lush plants. If you look for privacy, quiet, beauty and a discreet but friendly service, do not miss Quinta Maria Cortez.

Quinta Maria Cortez is a beautifully designed accommodation with balconies allowing you to rest while looking out at sea, plants all around, and rustic interior design. I enjoyed every morning and evening sitting out on the balcony looking out into the sea. The Rafael room had everything you could need, including a kitchenette. We also loved the super clean towels and sheets. The breakfast was super delicious and filling, and the manger made sure that we had what we needed, since we don’t eat bacon or pork and I’m vegan. That was greatly appreciated. The staff was all very kind and friendly. Loved that the place has access to the beach so we were able to start and end the day with a visit to the beach, although it’s a bit rocky but there was a lovely sandy beach just steps away a bit south. I also enjoyed the 25-30 min walk to the Malecon and if I was tired I could just take a 5-7 min taxi ride.

“Ancient haunted feeling beach getaway. Unique small hotel”

It was a unique stay. An open air hotel on the beach. Ancient with no upgrades. It felt like traveling back in time. I loved the beautiful view and comfy bed. The bathroom was original from 100 years ago and was still intact…truly unique as most of the time charm is taken away with unnecessary remodels. It felt like staying in a haunted house on the beach. The breakfast room was lovely and yummy coffee! I also loved watching from above the quiet beach activities. It was a photographic dream of a location. Beautiful sunsets.
