This was a very laid back spot that was both convenient for visiting the nature all around (the lagoon cruise is a short walk away, as is the village) as well as for crossing the river into the town. (Come prepared with a few 50c coins if you don't want to pay $1 each time to cross the river, they somehow never have change). The food was delicious, and I enjoyed having a large, cold beer on their balcony in the evenings, as well as swimming during the day. The room was spotless, large, and very comfortable, and I could have comfortably spent much longer than the 2 nights I visited. Also the mobile internet connection was amazingly fast for this area (over 100M/sec) so I could have worked from here had I anticipated it would be faster than in most Ecuadoran cities.

“Do not stay here!”

I contacted the hostel 3 hours before check-in, but they didn’t mention it was under renovation. When we arrived late at night, we were relocated to a different hostel nearby, which wasn’t on Booking because the owner had been blocked. We found out when the manager asked us to pay more per person than agreed. Additionally, the boat tour we booked through them turned out to be a scam.
