The property was excellent. The accommodation was beautiful set in the grounds. The boardwalk to the main building was very pretty. The main building was well maintained and the upper deck for chilling were excellent with hammocks and seating.

“Fantastic lodge, staff, food and abundant wildlife”

We spent an amazing 4 days here being looked after by friendly well organised staff. The food was excellent, buffet style with a range of meals and a bar. Lots of great activities, which we made the most of as there’s not a lot you can do there without a guide. We enjoyed boat trips, kayaking, the canopy walkway and chocolate making. Spotting wildlife was a real highlight with Edson, our fantastic guide, we saw a lot more than we expected. On a clear night the stars are incredible.

Staying at this jungle lodge was an unforgettable experience. The service was exceptional: friendly, helpful, and attentive to every detail. Everything was perfectly organized, from the tours to the New Year celebration, which was simply amazing. The food was delicious, and the room was very comfortable. This was by far the best hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Wonderful family run property by actual locals of puerto Maldonado who genuinely care about the special environment and ecosystem they take care of and share with traveller’s. We loved our room where we could relax and hear the sounds of the jungle. Our guides and excursions were fantastic and we got very lucky with the wildlife viewing.

Everything! The food was amazing, bungalow beautiful, bed super comfy and staff super friendly and helpful. The tours were well organised and paced so that you were not rushed at all and had plenty of time to relax and watch and listens to the wildlife.

“Unique (and real) experience”

Amazing location in the jungle. We really enjoyed our activities and the guides were all really knowledgeable and well prepared and made our experiences unique. Overall, we liked the food (some meals better than others) because we got to try several different typical Amazonian dishes and we appreciated the high quality and freshness of the ingredients, including different kinds of fresh juice every day. We also appreciated the free water refills and coffee always available. Our bungalow was very clean and comfortable (we got lucky and never had a single mosquito/bug in our room). The staff is friendly and very attentive to any needs, from the airport pick up and drop off, to any requests during the stay. Totally recommended - I guess that less positive reviews are due to the fact that some inconveniences (eg., no hot water, bugs, dark at night etc) are just part of being in the jungle itself and perhaps not everybody's cup of tea, but for us it wasn't a problem as we wanted to have a real experience of this kind.

The food including breakfast, lunch and dinner was excellent. The guides at the property are extremely knowledgeable and professional. Nothing is too much for the staff and they will help you in any way they can. The lodge is great for bird watching, the many excursions on offer are really worth doing, the Lake Sandoval was our favourite.

“Amazing stay in the middle of nature”

Everything was excellent at Hacienda Herrera! The place is really beautiful, it’s a huge area full of nature that makes you understand a lot about Amazon, sustainable agriculture and wildlife. The cabins offer a unique experience of being in the middle of nature. The food was amazing every day and the staff is really nice and great. The highlight are of course the tours, which are offered by very experienced guides with an amazing skill of finding the best spots to watch wildlife, while being respectul to nature. We definitely recommend this place!

Me and my partner had the absolute pleasure of staying here for 5 days/4 nights! The staff and guides are so very accommodating, full of knowledge about the animals, birds and bugs in the Amazon and are so passionate about their jobs. Cris was our fave.. by the end of it we would actually consider him a friend. He is so welcoming and friendly, great personality and happily answered every (1 million) questions my partner asked him. The staff in general are great fun to be around.. we ended up spending a lot of time with them outside of the tours. It was very personal which would normally make me uncomfortable but I think because it’s such a chilled out, friendly atmosphere, it encouraged me to spend more time in the main house than in our room. We really felt like part of the family and very at home here. The bungalow/lodge we stayed in was comfortable and clean - cleaned every day. The tours we did were amazing and worth every penny and if we felt like swapping a tour for a different one, they said yes straight away. I am lactose intolerant and the chef went out of his way to make me separate little bits so I could have the same as everyone else which was really so so sweet of him! The food was delicious and there was plenty of it, there was also always hot coffee and hot water available if you’d like a tea and a bowl of fruit if you are feeling a bit peckish. From reading past reviews, I can confirm that any negative reviews (which there aren’t many of) have been taken into consideration and actioned e.g there are fans in the rooms, places to sit other than beds and lots of food. It is an eco lodge and there isn’t any hot water which scared me slightly but it really wasn’t needed with how hot and humid it is in the jungle.. I ended up showering twice a day sometimes so don’t be put off by it! Plus I think with how hot it can get during the day, it actually warms the water up in the tanks.

“Amazing jungle experience!”

The lodge is in the middle of the jungle which provides an adventure in itself. It is amazing to wake up to the sound of all the creatures and be able to see them through the mosquito-net covered windows. The staff is fantastic and go beyond expectations to make your trip comfortable and provide everything you need during your stay. The tasty food is prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and family recipes. The area surrounding the main building is full of fruit trees -Bananas have never tasted so good! The rooms have all the basics, good quality linen and towels. Comfy beds with mosquito nets. The tours were great and informative and the guides spoke good English as well as Spanish. The places we visited in the reserve were absolutely beautiful!
