“Sanctuary for travellers”

I arrived in Embassy House with a feet infection. I nearly couldn't walk. Rafael has been a wonderful help! He went to the doctor and pharmacy with me. I could use his phone to call to the Netherlands. He called a taxi for me. So I am very grateful for his help. I asked Rafael why he called his place 'Embassy House'. He told me that his house is a sanctuary for travellers. And that's exactly what it is. I saw my first toucan in Costa Rica in his garden! His cat and dog are lovely. You will like this place.

Our stay in Puerto Jiménez with Rafael was absolutely magical and unforgettable. The accommodation was beautiful, full of unique character and thoughtful details, and perfectly clean. You could truly feel the care and love put into every corner of the place. Rafael is an exceptional host. Every morning he prepared delicious breakfasts for us, gave fantastic advice when planning our trips, and thanks to his recommendations we experienced some of the best places and restaurants in the area. We especially enjoyed the interesting and inspiring conversations with him. A special mention goes to Mr. President the cat and Fidel the dog, who were wonderful and sweet companions during our stay. Thanks to this experience, our vacation in Costa Rica became even more beautiful and memorable. Thank you so much — we wholeheartedly recommend this place!💛

The host was very lovely and welcoming. He made us feel welcome, and was accommodating to our needs and requests. The place was clean, well located and surrounded by nature.

Very clean and comfortable stay, close to the town and Rafael was very helpful. The breakfast was delicious! Rafael also has a really cute cat and dog who are very friendly. Saw toucans in the garden!

Embassy house is a very unique place! The host Rafael is extraordinarily kind and helpful. He has a dog named Fidel and a "fat", orange cat named Trump. Both are very cute! The house is full of books, chessboards and other cultural assets, which formed a base for intriguing conversations. The house is located at the very edge of the village. It has a beatiful garden with a terrace on which we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Overall the place has -in the most positive way- a certain "movie-like" feel to it. My girlfriend and I, having planned to go directly from San José to Corcovado national park by bus, our stay in Puerto Jimenez was originally a necessary measure, since there was no connecting bus at the same day we arrived. We ended up enjoying every minute of our stay and Rafael even provided some information about the animal species to be observed in the national park. Overall, I can totally recommend staying at Embassy House and would love to come back any time soon!

“Great place with local flavour”

It is a room in a house, in a short walking distance to everything you may need, with windows open to a nice garden - you will be woken up by birds in the morning. The owner is wonderfully helpful and friendly, you will enjoy his company and advice (and the company of his cat and dog). The place is clean and very convenient. You will share the bathroom. Staying at this place is a kind of good experience by itself, you will be immersed in local life and bring home good memories. Strongly recommended.

We had an amazing time in Embassy House! :) Property owner Rafael was very friendly and helpful. Our room was nicely clean and airy with a beautiful views to the garden. We will miss delicious eggs for a breakfast served with a cuban music and we will also definitely miss Fidel 🐕

We loved our relaxing stay at Embassy House. Rafael made us feel at home and gave good recommendations for things to do in the area. The house itself is very comfortable with a beautiful garden to have breakfast in and a dipping pool to cool down in when the day is especially hot. It's a very easy walk to restaurants, shops, kayak tour, bus station and ferry but not right in the busy area. We also fell in love with the resident cat and dog!

“Excellent Bed&Breakfast centrally located in Puerto Jiménez”

This is a very friendly bed & breakfast, 1 bedroom inside a private house (shared bathroom) very centrally located with everything within walking distance. Very friendly host who has traveled the world, always open for a chat. He freshly cooked us delicious scrambled eggs for breakfast. We could also store our larger bags while doing a 3 day hike in Corcovado.

Kindness of our hosts, we spent two very nice nights at the Embassy House!

Only stayed one night at Embassay house but would highly recommend. Lovely home with a beautiful garden. Raphael was a very welcoming and accommodating host. He made us a wonderful breakfast in the morning. Two pets in the home, one dog and one cat. Good location, few mins walk to main street for shops/ restaurants and only 10min walk from small airstrip.

“Jimenez to Corcovado”

Rafael helped us a lot with our stay in Jimenez. We were there mostly for a three day tour of corcovado national park. He prepared breakfast for our early departure to the park. We were also allowed to leave our rental car on his property for a small fee. Note that Rafael has two lovely pets (cat and dog).
