“Perfect paradise!”

Absolute paradise! Our villa was so perfectly nestled into the jungle that there was no trace of the resort to be seen. The service was so loving and from the heart that it felt like being spoiled by family. Every meal was a delight, with the only challenge being the choice between so many tempting options, including the standout breakfast. Every nature walk brought new surprises from animals and plants you discover with the help of the knowledgeable guides, and activities such as the waterfall abseiling add athletic adventures. Just perfect!

“Fantastic eco-lodge which is designed to thrill”

Fantastic lodge nestled in the trees close to the sea. Food was great, guides were excellent, we saw loads of amazing wildlife. All the staff are lovely and provide exceptional levels of service. It doesn’t feel like a hotel. The rooms are magical and allow you to connect to where you are in the heart of the rainforest.

“Unspoilt rainforest wilderness”

The unspoilt remote location. It was small and quiet, only 14 rooms. Excellent staff, in particular restaurant staff remembered names and drink choices. All staff went out their way to ensure you were ok and provided top class and personalised experience. A manager made a point of chatting to each guest daily to check if they were ok. There were a variety of trips and guided walks included in the package with knowledgeable and accommodating guides who were more than happy to tailor the trip to your requirements. Easy access to wildlife and rainforest surrounding the property. Private terrace overlooking the tree canopy. Excellent quality food. Full board included. More food than we could eat!

Wow - I had a 7 out of 5 star experience! El Remanso really matches the epitome of luxury lodges anywhere in the world, such as the top properties operated by Oberoi or Taj. Where do I begin... I was wowed by the stylishness and comfort of my room (more below), loved the pool, and fell in love with the setting deep in the rainforest, seeing and hearing the Pacific Ocean in the background, and experiencing the fauna and flora in daily walks. Yet the two most outstanding features were the people and the food. I learned in the introduction of the hotel in the in-room hotel guide that it is a local family business hiring only locals from the Osa península. They wrote apologetically that everyone studies hard but that as they constantly train up new employees, too, one should excuse any imperfection. The experience, however, was the best I've ever had. Everything comes from people's heart - they not only are most professional (as they must be trained extremely well) but everything they do seems to come from a deep desire to make their guests happy. For example, the driver who picked me up from the airport already tried to spot animals to show me during the 1-hour drive to the lodge, stopping along the way where he found some. They offer "at least" one guided tour every day and they actually arranged two for me every day even though some were private tours as I was the only guest that had requested certain tours during my stay. At the same time, when I asked about one of the paid tours mentioned in their list of tour options, they told me that given the length of my stay, they would recommend that I focus on their free tours which they honestly considered the best choices! Which other hotel would intentionally forgo a chance to generate some extra commission only to give the best possible experience to the guest? The food was just as outstanding.

The staff is very kind and does all they can to help you and meet your needs. The guides are very professional and we learned a lot from Eli and Mario. The food is excellent, great choices on the menu! The prices of the drinks are very honest. The location for us was stunning! If you love nature, wanting to disconnect and appreciate the jungle wildlife this is THE place to be! We saw squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys and spider monkeys from our villa! The beach is very wild and waves can be very strong but it's mesmerising to sit alone and watch the power of the ocean. One morning we saw whales pass by, it was magical!!
