“Beautiful immersion into the cloud forest - with a spectacular guided tour to see the Quetzal birds”

Fantastic location, lovely staff. We had an amazing day with our guide David Retana, organised via Tami Lodge, to find the beautiful Quetzal bird. David was absolutely brilliant - he loves and knows the area like no one else - highly recommended! David also features in the lonely planet guide for Costa Rica.

“A piece of heaven”

Wonderful location! Fantastic views from bungalows perched on the hill. A beautiful waterfall minutes walk away. The staff is nice and helpful. The restaurant serves great food at great value. The quetzal tour was brilliant. The highlight!

We loved the scenic view, the cool night air with twinkling stars, the shower with a view, the nice hammock chair, waterfall trail, flowers, birds and restaurant that served the best trout dinner we have ever had! The shower has hot water, which is a rarity in Costa Rica. William was also very helpful with tour information. We want to go back and swim under the waterfalls!

“My best stay in Costa Rica - by far!”

I am in two minds to actually provide a review here, for fear that this off-the-beaten-path gem of a location becomes too popular and loses its idyllic remote charm. But as we had such a wonderful stay I feel compelled to share. The accommodation is based on large private vinyl-canvass tents erected on roofed wooden platforms on the steep forested slopes of the Rio Brujo valley. This means they are effectively in the forest canopy, so the views from the balcony (and indeed the bed with the tent front open) down the misty ravine are spectacular. The private toilet and shower facilities are excellent - the shower especially commanding the same amazing views down valley. Watching from the balcony as the fireflies played in the treetops after dusk was a real enchanting experience. The food in the restaurant was very good, though perhaps the menu for vegetarians was a little limited (but delicious), with the restaurant and parking area some 100m back along the road from the accommodation. Definitely bring a head lamp or flash flight for the evenings as there is no electricity in the tented rooms, though there is a rechargeable lamp. Power for charging devices is available in the open common area at the top of the slope, but you may want to bring a power bank or two. Also, if you are driving there, a 4x4 vehicle with good ground clearance, low gearing, and the knowledge and experience on how to use it (including in 4 Low) is definitely recommended, even in the dry season.

“A Very Special Stay”

This is one of the first places I've ever been that I wanted to give a 10+. Tami Lodge (Santos Tours, Cascadas del Saavegre,), it's staff, surroundings are "special" - really special. It was an adventure just getting there. You will need a 4x4 vehicle. From the highway it was a 20K down a rather challenging dirt road. But it is doable. Once we got to Tami, we were met by Juan (assisted by his son Gustavo). Juan would be our go-to person for our 3night stay. He arranged tours, got us to our rooms, helped with bags and was the chef at the Lodge Restaurant. This is Lodge is glamping so, I guess, it's not for everyone. We reserved the Deluxe Bungalow (queen/twin), private bath and awesome view. NOTE: there is not electricity in the bungalows. There is a battery powered light but having our own - we really never used it. There are plenty of outlets and power strips at the restaurant to power up phones/camera/etc. There is also WIFI at the restaurant and we actually had pretty good cell phone reception in our room (Kolbi). My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the porch and taking in the view that never ceased to amaze. We signed up for two tours: eco coffee tour/tasting and the quetzal - Johan was our guide for both. Don't know what I expected but I learned so much about coffee growing, Costa Rican culture, birds, Providencia. Johan is passionate about Costa Rica and he instilled in us a greater appreciation this beautiful country. I really can't say enough about the crew at Tami. Juan and his family are there when we got there (sometimes at 0545 before the quetzal tour) and when we left after dinner. The food by the way is really good. Breakfast is awesome and filling ...make sure to ask for the Salsa Piquante :-). The menu for dinner is just the right size and I learned from Juan that as much as possible they use products from the local farmers. I could say more but JUST GO!!

We enjoyed our stay completelly. It is unique place, with nice accomodation, friendly stuff and The best ever blackberry or strawberry fresh juice. But maybe the best part of it was our very knoledgeable and devoted guide. Thank you for exeptional experience.

Spacious tent from where you have a beautiful view over the garden and the valley. Even from the shower you can enjoy this nice view. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Good breakfast and dinner from local produce are served in a close-by local restaurant with very professional and friendly staff. We saw the quetzal bird (the main reason why we stayed here) on an early morning tour which was a nice experience.
