The trail in the pristine forest is great for watching and listening to birds, we did the tour and saw quetzals! Very knowledgeable and respectful guide. The staff are all friendly and helpful.

“Beautiful mountain retreat with great food near Los Quetzales National Park”

We really enjoyed our stay at this place. The property is located a short drive from the main road and is a great option if you’re looking for accommodation near Los Quetzales National Park. The house itself is a charming wooden cottage with a very natural and cozy atmosphere. The surroundings are beautiful and very peaceful, and on a sunny day the mountain views are absolutely stunning. Even in the garden you can see hummingbirds and other birds flying around, which adds to the feeling of being immersed in nature. The breakfast was excellent — actually much better than most of the included breakfasts we had during our trip through Costa Rica. The property also has an à la carte restaurant that offers dinner, and we really enjoyed the food there as well. Another highlight was the private forest trail on the property, about three kilometers long, which you can explore on your own and which makes it easy to enjoy the surrounding forest and wildlife. The cottage itself had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and hot water was available, which is especially important in this cooler mountain climate.

The birding trips we did were excellent. Our guides Jason, Carlos and Leonor were very knowledgeable and good at finding us owls and the Quetzals.

“Good option for bosque nuboso stay”

It was a very pleasant stay. We loved the view from the hut (large clean windows) and the mountainous feeling. Enough blankets provided to manage the cold. Nice restaurant. Saw quetzales on the guided walk.

Really great staff, beautiful trail system and stunning location. We didn't have time to sample the food due to our busy schedule, but less vegan options there than at other lodges we stayed at.

1- Fantastic location with amazing surrounding nature. 2- Great tasty breakfast and meals with many options to choose from, even for vegetarians/vegans. 3- Very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating staff. 4- Nice to have a heater in the room. 5- Incredible private trails! 6- Great guide for the Quetzal tour. 7- Fantastic reception/dining area with plenty of space and fantastic views. 8- Two nice locations with well-kept hummingbird feeders. Plenty of photo opportunities. 9- The property area (all facilities and services) was bigger than we thought. 10- Quiet and relaxing location. 11- Fantastic view from the room.

“Excellent location and food”

Breakfast was excellent

A lovely place to stay in the cloud forest with great views over the hill tops. The staff & owner here went above and beyond to make our stay here fantastic. The bird watching was great too and again the guides and owner are very knowledgeable about them. Also the food is really good. We would definitely recommend a stay here and we will be back.

The views. Lovely to have the folding chairs in the room tonsit out on the deck and enjoy the ambience. The bird tour was interesting. Our guode was knowledgeable and enthisaistic.The location was great. For our needs and visiting the national park.

Very different guides. Carlos (we think that was his name, he also had a daughter on sight who was bird watching) was the best bird guide we have ever had! He literally talked to the birds. The other one was just silent and not helpful in pointing out birds despite us reminding him that we wanted him to do so. He also left the group for a long time to track down birds without inviting us to come along.

This hotel is just perfect in every way, location, staff, food is amazing it just goes on and on. Everyone needs to stay here! Just make sure you stay for longer the we need. We just stopped for one night. Mistake! We should have stayed longer.

We went specifically to this accommodation to take the morning guided walk to see the Quetsal. The guide was good. We saw the Quetsal and other birds. Great experience. The lodge has rooms and cabins. Our small cabin was older, cold in the night but clean and fine for one night.

“A birdwatching paradise in the clouds”

The food and the view were excellent. The dinner and breakfast were the best food on our whole trip! The cabin had a view of the mountainside and it was amazing to see the clouds pass through. The private hiking trail led to lots of wild birds and a waterfall.
