“Beautiful place!”

Pousada Lagamar was in an idyllic location. We had an amazing time and loved exploring the island, both on the boat trip arranged by the Pousada and the excellent trails. The Pousada were brilliant - lovely staff, clear communication and very helpful when there was a small issue with our room. Highly recommend!

The beach (Praia Itaguacu) close to the hotel was amazing — given position of the Pousada, we had easy access early in the morning or before sunset, and were there alone on an amazing stretch of sand. Very rare these days — we loved it!

Views from the balcony into the bay were magical. Staff was extremely helpful in organising excursions and booking transport to/from mainland. Breakfast was great every morning. The nature at Pousada Lagamar is stunning, would recommend paying extra for water view rooms, it make us feel like we are sleeping in a tree house. Plenty (aka 3) of food options on the beach, which was surprising considering it felt like it was a desert island just for us (in the most magical way).

Very peaceful, green and quiet. Close to the beach if you want to get a boat somewhere. You can also just walk the trail to visit other beaches and spots nearby.

“Unfortunately I can’t recommend based on our experience”

Booked this Pousada because of it’s idyllic location and so called hospitality. However practically our whole stay we could not have breakfast in our stay. We had to walk for 10 min through the jungle to another cheaper Pousada with no idyllic view at all. Only the last morning of check out, breakfast was served in our hotel. Seeing what we could have had in the past days was so frustrating. We asked several times for help with planning our tours / hikes but they were very short in replies probably due to the language barrier. However google translate can help you a long way right…?! The lack of effort to help us out, frustrated us the most because we were really in a remote location, dependent on the Pousada to make the best of our days.

Location and breakfast were perfect with beautiful views and close proximity to the beach with bars and restaurants and the boat departs from there too!

“Jungle paradise”

It’s important to remember that Ilha Grande is a fairly remote island with no roads. So I think you have to put the accommodation into this context, and on that basis, we really loved Pousada Lagamar. Yes there is a little walk up to the Pousada but the perspective you get through the jungle rather than the just from the beach is really special. The rooms are basic but comfortable and there is house keeping every day. We loved sitting and looking out at the view and listening to the nature around us.

Pousada Lagamar is situated at one of the more remote beaches of Ilha Grande. It’s a perfect spot if you seek a relaxing yet adventurous stay. If you’d like to hike and have beautiful beaches, you are in the right spot. The stuff of Pousada Lagamar is friendly and attentive.
