Caio and Marlucia place is truly paradise. It was an absolute pleasure to stay relax and recharge at ponta da Barca. A great restaurant right on the beachfront with cozy accomodation that really made us feel we were away from the world. One of the major highlights is Caio and Marlucia’s hospitality which made you feel like part of the family and truly welcomed. It really made our stay extra special! We cannot recommend this place more highly! True paradise 😊

Absolutely fabulous 4 night stay here on half board, food was really amazing at both breakfast and dinner. Room was simply furnished but spacious with a beautiful sea view. Room was very clean and had a fridge, kettle and tea which was appreciated. Location on the beautiful beach is fantastic, with warm sea water which is crystal clear, swimming and snorkelling here was incredible. We used Caio’s kayak to go watch turtles feeding on kelp nearby which was so special. There’s plenty of great walking from the Pousada some of which is a moderate level in places. Lots of birds and butterflies around and marmosets. Caio and his Mum looked after us so well, it was like staying with family, they are just the loveliest, kindest people.

“Peaceful stay on a secluded beach with lovely hosts”

Our stay at Ponta da Buca on Praia Vermelha was amazing. The location is stunning: a small, secluded beach, very quiet and relaxing, perfect if you want to disconnect and enjoy nature. The property is very charming and just a one-minute walk from the arrival pier, which is extremely convenient. The on-site restaurant is good, and there is also another restaurant right next door, so you have more dining options despite the remote location. Caio and his mother are wonderful hosts: kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with great recommendations. A special highlight is the homemade açaí prepared by his mother, absolutely delicious. Boat tours depart directly from Praia Vermelha and are beautiful. Keep in mind that the property is not close to Abraão and taxi boat transfers are not cheap, but the peace and beauty of this place make it totally worth it. Highly recommended for a truly relaxing stay in Ilha Grande

“Perfect stay in beautiful Ponta Barca”

We’re so happy we chose Ponta Barca for our stay on Ilha Grande. Probably one of the best places to stay on the island—thanks to its amazing scenery, quiet surroundings, and the fact that the beach is never crowded. The hosts were incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Their son speaks English, which made communication much easier. The food was absolutely delicious—real home-style cooking that felt like a meal made with love. Breakfasts were rich, varied, and full of local products, with something different served every day. Our room was spacious, with a large and comfortable bed, mosquito-screened windows, and even from the rooms in the back you can still see the sea. Everything was spotless, with daily cleaning. We also appreciated the option to borrow beach chairs and umbrellas. Getting to the accommodation was also very easy—by bus from Rio de Janeiro to Angra dos Reis, and then by the NATIGA boat directly to Ponta Barca. This place is a solid 10/10. Everything was done with care and professionalism, and we felt truly looked after throughout our stay. We wholeheartedly recommend Ponta Barca and will definitely return on our next visit to Ilha Grande.

“Perfect, relaxing & picturesque”

Wonderful hospitality. Staff were so kind and accommodating. The homemade breakfast each morning was delicious and so thoughtful. Setting up umbrellas and chairs on the beach each day was a nice touch. Only 2min walk from ferry. Room was comfortable and the view beautiful.

The hotel is not only very clean and very functional for a beach location surrounded by nature, but it also has a lot of charm. It is a family business and the staff is super-friendly and goes above and beyond to make the stay special.

Beautifull location, clean rooms, good Wifi (through Starlink). And above all, great food. Nice every day changing breakfast, excellent dinner options. A lot of effort is put into preparing dinner. The food is not cheap, but that is the same everywhere on Ilha Grande (and this is what you can expect on an Island). Around praia vermelha plenty of options for trails, excursions and scuba diving.

“Superb poussada with family atomsphere”

Caio and his Mother were very welcoming and kind. He waited at the pond to escort me to my room and helped with every piece of advice and service. The day-trips to the several destinations of the island are amazing, and there’s plenty of options for you depending also on the weather. I also enjoyed the food cooked by Caio’s mother, the delicious breakfast with tasty tapiocas and the dinners, especially the octopus with spinach is a must have!

“An incredible stay in a beautiful place”

We had an amazing stay at Ponta da Barca. The location is incredible, right on the beach, such thoughtful and attentive hosts and amazing food in the restaurant. Breakfast was also delicious, which we ate in a room overlooking the bay. Huge room with a comfortable bed, cleaned every day to a high standard. Lots of recommendations provided about things to in the area.

We adored our stay there!! Everything was just amazing, the rooms are simple and beautiful, with great views. Cleaned daily, hot water always, protection for mosquitos or flies (there were none during our stay). Caio and his family are absolutely amazing! They made everything possible to please and host us. The breakfast is fresh and super tasty. their home made açaí also a must have! Praia Vermelha is quiet and the perfect place to relax and disconnect. The ecosystem around is also stunning. Birds and animals in perfect coexistence with the people. We will be back! Thanks for everything!

We were very warmly welcomed from the beginning! We have enjoyed our stay very much it was all perfect! The owner speaks very good English and helped us with any questions! The food was an absolute dream! We can only recommend the accommodation!

The most cozy pousada with the best homemade and varied food on the island. We highly recommend their half board. Clean room with sea view to the bay where you can snorkel with turtles and eagle rays. The best thing about Ponta Da Barca is the wonderful people - the mum who rules the kitchen and the musician, the son, who more than lives up to his late fatters reputation as a fantastic host. We will come back one day.

we loved this place so much and were so sad to leave. it’s hard to know where to start. Marlucia Otávio Caio and Robson were so incredibly warm and kind and we left feeling part of the family after just 3 days. there pousada is outstanding right on the beach and the food is to die for. can’t recommend it enough.

“Unique experience of Ilha Grande”

The poussada is located on a lovely beach with great views of the bay. The staff are extremely friendly and do a great job to help you enjoy your stay. The room was really clean and the staff pay attention to all the small details (the way they fold towels, tidy your things etc). The team were always helpful to provide tips and organise excursions for the day. It is easy to organise boat trips to visit other islands.
