The location and views of the ocean from Mar da Lua are lovely. We enjoyed being right on the water among palm trees and close to other restaurants and the beach at Aracatiba. The staff were also friendly and we enjoyed the breakfasts. The manager was also happy to order us a transfer on the island and give us any recommendations. We would consider visiting again! :)

The location is really lovely and our room directly overlooked the sea. We sat on the veranda of our room with the sound of the sea a few feet away. Very restful!

Great location right near the beach. Access to the property was ideal too as the boat dropped us on their private pier and we didn’t have to walk across the sand

“A small touch of paradise”

The location is PERFECT. A small touch of paradise where you can take a paddle board right off the jetty and be surrounded by schools of fish and even turtles within seconds. Peaceful and beautiful. Adolfo the host is an incredibly generous man, he helped us out above and beyond with any and everything we could ever want and refused our tip at the end, saying it would mean more to his kitchen staff than to him so that’s where it went! It’s a long way from the UK but oh I hope I’ll be back. We stayed in the sea view triple.

We stayed at Mar De Lua with Francisco and his incredible team, and the only word that comes close to describing it is heavenly. Araçatiba is a hidden gem on Ilha Grande, a place of pure magic that feels untouched by time. Only a lucky few ever get to experience this paradise… make sure you’re one of them.

The place is a really quiet off the grid location and the scenery is stunning. The breakfast was great and it was very chilled. The sunsets are amazing and the local restaurants are also good. The manager Leo was very attentive to guests and was always on hand. It’s a really nice quaint place if you want complete off the grid vibes as there’s little to do except relax which is what we were after. :) We saw turtles daily and also went paddle boarding. The drinks were amazing too!

This hotel has a magnificent location. We had a room at a few meters from the sea with an marvellous view directly from our bed. There is a beautiful beach located in 5 min walking distance from the hotel. Adolfo and Leo are great hosts and they helped us in many aspects while planning our stay. The food is very good, prepared home under supervision of Adolfo’s wife Maria. I warmly recommend this hotel while staying in Ilha Grande.

“Heavenly”

We loved our stay at Mar da Lua, whether it was our room with its exceptional view, the hotel facilities or the friendliness of the staff. The hotel's setting is heavenly, and we were even able to swim with turtles on several occasions. This side of the island is wilder and quieter. There are some great hikes starting from the hotel. The food is also very good.

We had a fantastic time at Mar da Lua, the place is in paradise! The area is a perfect balance of feeling away from it all but still easy access and a few restaurants around. The room had fantastic views and the food was always amazing at the pousada. Leo is a wonderful and friendly host. Thanks for having us.
