“Day 1 in Spain”

The owner/manager Mikel was great. This is a very welcoming, friendly family run hotel. While there we had the pleasure of meeting Mikel's wife, children and father, all of whom were lovely. The meals were delicious, if you order the pizza I recommend you share, 2 pizzas and 2 patatas bravas was more than 4 people could eat.

“Excellent value”

A lovely rural hotel, lives up to it's name, though it is only a short jaunt off the highway. Limited menu, but Pizza are really excellent. Breakfast is more than adequate. friendly staff, quiet little bar. Easy to find, except you know you are there but cannot see the hotel. That is because it is behind the restaurant doors, which are closed from mid afternoon to about 20.00 However, a phone call soon solves the problem. Highly recommend as a stop over heading south, or as a base to explore Castilia and Leon

What a fantastic find. Our first stay in a hotel rural but definitely not our last! Miguel was more than welcoming. The hotel is beautiful. Everything spotless. Lovely bar and super pizza. Great breakfast. Only 90 minutes from Santander ferry.

Owners were so welcoming and friendly. Lovely bar and courtyard and outstanding restaurant. We loved their local wine and their pizza was delicious. Lovely breakfast & good value for money. We will definitely go back.

“Comfortable guesthouse in a quiet village”

A traditional Spanish guesthouse in a small village, ideally located for a stopover if travelling south or north on the A-67. The owner is most welcoming and hospitable. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and there is a bar with a courtyard for evening drinks. If you have some spare time it’s worth exploring the historic Canal de Castilla for which there is an interpretive centre in Alar del Rey.

The evening meal and breakfast were outstanding quality and value for money. All of the staff at the hotel were very helpful. The people in the village were really friendly, a local gave us delicious home grown tomatoes to take away with us. The hotel is in a small village and it is of a characterful rustic Spanish nature which we all loved.

Fuente del Val was a great place to stay. The hotel host Miquel showed me nothing but kindness from my arrival. I guess there will not be many guests arriving by bicycle. How ever you arrive you can be sure to find a super clean bedroom, good food, wine and a choice of beers. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and hope that my travels bring me back here some day. “A lovely experience to share some time in a small village, with such welcoming people.”

I was looking for a rural location, not too far from the main road to Santander, which would show me another aspect of Spanish life. This was a lovely experience spending some time in a small village.
