Just 150 metres from Canelas Beach in the town of Portonovo, the San Roque guesthouse offers rooms with private bathrooms and TV. The town centre is just 400 metres away. The guesthouse also has a café-bar that serves breakfast consisting of coffee, a pastry and toasts. The town centre is just 400 metres away, and offers a wide range of restaurant, cafés, bars and shops, as well as supermarkets. “Fabulous September stay!”
We were looking for a place to stay in Galicia for a week to unwind after a previously hectic week attending some friends’ wedding celebrations in the province. Hostal San Roque and Portonovo didn’t disappoint! Our room was at the rear of the building with the advantage of a super spacious terrace which caught the evening sun. The shower was powerful and the toilet has an excellent flush. The simple continental breakfast was plentiful and more than adequate for setting you up for the day, also the individually machine brewed coffee was a treat. The staff were so friendly and helpful despite the language barrier! They went out of their way to help with all our requests including lending us a beach chair as we travelling without a car, which we supplemented with a parasol from the handy nearby Casa China. We loved the local beach which was 5 minutes’ walk away. It’s a pretty bay with a sandy beach gently sloping into the sea and didn’t have too many waves so it was great for swimming. The Hostal is located handily for all the bars and restaurants of Portonovo and we had some excellent meals out - in particular we liked O Buras and Bodega Julio.
