Fantastic food. Fantastic hosts. Very comfortable, spacious room. Great hot water. Excellent seclusion if that is what you are after.

When we arrived, the place was almost empty, with just one other couple staying in a nearby bungalow, and the restaurant was closed (which was expected given the low number of guests. However, there is another restaurant on the beach about a 20-minute walk away. We don’t know how the property feels when it is busier, but overall we really liked the grounds and the layout. The bungalows are spacious, and the interiors felt natural and thoughtfully designed. The property is close to a kind of semi-private beach, which is a good place to swim. If you walk a bit further, you can find an area with lots of sea urchins. We stayed for one night, but would definitely have liked to stay longer if we had more time.

Our booking was made very late and despite this we were so warmly welcomed. There was beautiful Cape Verdean music being played when we arrived by two incredible musicians which was lovely. And the breakfast in the morning was delicious. The fresh mango juice was particularly mouthwatering!

It was very simple but charming. People friendly and helpful. Dinner was good. Beach is beautiful but no shade and dirty. We paid the least for this hotel on our trip and it had the best shower.

“Great place right by the sea”

The house is in a great location (although best to have your own transport). The views are great and we loved being able to swim in the sea. We also liked our dinner and breakfast with very friendly staff. Our cabin was very large and well equipped for a longer stay.

the traditional houses are nice and you can hear the see from your bed. the breakfast was great, dinner also good. the beach isn’t the prettiest and real windy, but totally private. reserve a spot for dinner when you arrive!

“A bit remote....”

Actually we booked this but decided not to stay, so I'm not sure it's fair to do a review. I've listed the reasons we chose not to stay below. On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant area looked nice, right on the beach, shady and cool in the hot sun. Menu seemed quite good. We had a cold drink while revising our options.

“Authentic place”

Casa de France is a very authentic accommodation with a charming atmosphere. I particularly loved that the buildings are made of stone and wood, and the bungalows have traditional local-style roofs, which makes the place even more special. The property is in a beautiful location with its own beach. The breakfast was simple – margarine, one egg, and a pastry – but the freshly squeezed juice was excellent, and there was homemade cake as well. Dinner can also be requested and is freshly prepared on-site. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The receptionist was especially kind, though English is not widely spoken; French and Portuguese are understood better. The bathrooms were not very nice, a bit worn out, and the water pressure was low – barely any water came from the tap. There are quite a few mosquitoes, probably due to watering, and while the rooms have fans, they are insufficient in extreme heat. Overall, I recommend this place because it is beautiful, charming, and authentic – but note that it is only easily accessible by car.

The location is excellent, the lodge-like rooms are spacious. Garden is beautiful.

The host who runs the place is nice and is also preparing all meals. When we arrived, the room was not clean (quite dusty). The eating area and the huts which houses the rooms are O.K., however, part of the area is run down and looks like nothing has been invested in years (e.g. four more or less broken sunbeds on the beach, boardwalk to the beach completely broken) With little effort, certain areas in the resort could look much nicer.

Remote and quiet location. The staff was very nice and cooked us tasty dishes. We enjoyed our time at the beach.
