Overview
The 3-star Mansfield Private Reserve is located in Port Alfred, a little drive out of town. Plains game, including giraffe and zebra, roam the Eastern Cape bushveld. It is safe to walk the pretty hiking trails on the reserve. The indigenous Aloe grows in abundance on the farm. When in flower, their bright orange blooms are hard to miss! While you will not need a 4x4 to reach Mansfield, a high clearance vehicle is advised. There are both indoor and outdoor self-catering accommodation options at Mansfield. The original farmhouse, with fully equipped kitchen, can sleep up to 8 guests. Farmhouse guests also have access to a private swimming pool and braai. The smaller cottage can sleep up to 4 guests. The cottage opens onto a stoep with braai, that overlooks the bushveld. Eagle’s Nest Cabin offers a completely off the grid experience. The kitchenette is equipped with a small gas stove and fridge. Lighting is battery-operated and paraffin powered. Hot water to the shower is generated by an old-fashioned “donkey”! Adventure is guaranteed! Outdoor accommodation includes camping sites and tree-top platforms. The platforms, with bunk beds, appeal especially to young outdoor enthusiasts. Day visitors are also very welcome at Mansfield Private Reserve. There are designated picnic and braai spots, a kids play area and swimming pool. Visit Mansfield for a fun day out with family or friends! Other activities include guided nature walks, unguided game drives, birding, and fishing.

“Tranquility and Solace is found here”
A very, very, very beautiful place. So quiet you can hear your self think. I enjoyed the wild animals. You get welcomed by Zebras and Antelopes as you drive in. Definetly coming back.

Mansfield is an amazing place to stay. We arrived to see giraffes outside our window at sunset, and it just got better. Great small collection of game and amazing birdlife - saw so much just walking around the reserve each morning. The cottage itself was great too, very spacious with a private braai. Incredible value, would 100% stay again.

The Eastern Cape has so much going for it - and this is a piece of paradise that showcases much of what it has to offer! We loved the gracious old farmhouse, being able to wander safely around the reserve, and the warmth of the staff (among other things). Thank you for a truly lovely stay

“A getaway amongst the animals”
We loved everything about eagle's nest. Its the perfect getaway to just forget about life and relax. We sat outside till late with the parafin lamps and enjoyed the quietness. We realised that being off the grid is easy. The giraffe being a stone's throw from the back door was incredible. There is a lot of antelop. The rusks added an extra special touch. The bed is comfortable.

“We only booked for one night and we should have stayed for more !!”
We loved every minute of our stay in the cabin. Everything we needed was provided. It was spotlessly clean, and the linen nice and crisp. We were surprised to have the solar lights as we were expecting to only have parafin lamps, which we used anyway :) It was a nice touch to have tea, coffee, sugar, milk and rusks provided.

The shower drain is very slow to empty, so u end up standing in a pool of dirty water while showering.
