“Beautiful pool, friendly staff - would recommend!”

What a beautiful hotel! The pool area is amazing and so relaxing. Plus there’s a bar/restaurant open all day 6:30am-10pm where you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner (plus many Toñas!). It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. We have a car so it’s not a problem for us - parking nearer the beach is free anyway. The hotel organises surf lessons and drives you down to the beach with your board anyway. Shower comes with shampoo, body wash and conditioner, which was a nice treat! It’s also the cleanest hotel we’ve stayed at in Nicaragua so far. For us (couple) it was worth staying slightly away from the beach to get the amazing facilities, chill out area with hammocks and nice room.

The beautiful gardens around the pool, the delicious food especially the fish tacos! The quiet spacious room with hammock outside. The friendly staff. The short pretty walk to the sunset beach that’s dotted with a few bar restaurants. All very relaxed.

The staff were exceptional, the rooms were great, and the garden and pool area were beautiful. We also spent time closer to the bay, but this hotel offered far better value.

Very good fishing and surfing lessons. Friendly staff. Mike was so helpful with arranging quad and motorbike rental, etc.

It was a lovely room, perfect for a family. Beautifully kept gardens and grounds, amazing pool area, everything very clean, like an oasis. Very friendly staff and helpful.

Located only a 10min walk away from the secluded Popoyo surf break, it’s a great place to stay for surfers. The rooms are clean, well presented, have air conditioning and hot water. The pool area is well maintained and a relaxing environment with hammocks surrounded by nice gardens. The restaurant serves good food for a reasonable price. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. You can hire surfboards and the staff assist with organising taxi drivers when required. We would definitely recommend staying at nicawaves.

I liked the place overall. They have different spaces to chill: Bar, sofas, outdoor tables, the pool and hammocks. Staff was kind and helpful. And the room was just like in the pictures.

The place is perfect if you are with a car or motorbike to try all the surf spots around. The staff is so friendly and cheerfull that gives you a lot of calm and security while you are staying at Nicawaves.

The location is great only a short walking distance to Popoyo beach. The food at the restaurant is really good with great daily specials and a great selection for breakfast.

“Lovely hotel”

We were upgraded which was lovely! The room was big and the AC was fantastic in the heat. The shower was hot which we loved! The location is great - if you let the people at Finca Popoyo know you’re from Nicawaves they let you use their beach access which is fantastic. The pool area is super nice to hang around. The hammocks are bliss.

The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a pleasure to get such a priviledged treatment with a smiling heart. Was really pleased to stay in this hotel. Room was great value and the pool area is magic !

“Perfect stay - didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back!”

We loved the location and the proximity to beginners bay (about a 10 minute walk), the staff were all friendly and polite, the food and cocktails were amazing, the room was comfortable and clean and we loved the pool and hammocks!

“Disappointing”

Common areas were clean but our room and bathroom had spider webs and dirt on the walls.

“Our room was broken into and all of our belongings were taken.”

Karen was very empathetic and called the police immediately. Nicawaves arranged transport to and from the police station in Tola on two occasions (the second trip was required as the police report stated the wrong accommodation name in their report). They cleared our food and drink tab which came to around 120 dollars (*this was on the condition that we cancelled our booking on booking.com)
