“Great place to stay to visit the Ancient City of Pollonoruwa”

The setting and location are stunning! We enjoyed the beautiful views of the lake at the sunset. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from to the main entrance of the museum, which was super convenient to visit the Ancient City of Pollonoruwa. We rented the bicycles in the reception. The coffee maker in the room was a plus.

“A beautiful hotel facing the lake”

I had a wonderful stay at EKHO Lake House. The property was originally an old circuit bungalow used by British Government Agents and has since been converted into a boutique hotel. Interestingly, it is located right in the middle of the Polonnaruwa archaeological site. The main Polonnaruwa Museum and one of the ancient king’s courts are located right next to the hotel, making it a perfect place to stroll among the ancient ruins in the evening. I stayed at one of their Premier Lake View rooms. The Deluxe lake view rooms also have the same view. The room was clean, beautiful and spacious. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Lovely rooms”

The rooms are fabulous, super classy. Brilliant location near the archaeological sites and overlooking the lake. It was nice to have a pool, even if it was tiny.

“Blissfully relaxing, charming and elegant”

We loved the peace and tranquility, as well as the history, of this beautiful hotel. The expansive views across the lake, from the room, from the lawns, the restaurant and the infinity pool made it endlessly relaxing, and the quiet attentiveness of the staff perfectly matched that vibe. It is also conveniently right next to the museum for the tickets to the ancient city and they hired bikes for us to go round. Breakfast was delicious as was the Sri Lankan curry we had for dinner on the second night. We stayed one of our two nights in the Royal Suite, thanks to the staff kindly arranging for us to upgrade, and that was a surreal, unforgettable, experience.

“Best Hotel in Sri Lanka!”

Everything about the property was incredible. The staff, the food to die for, the location, the peace. The best stay we had so far, Suresh sorted out everything for us, even allowed us to check out late, so we could enjoy the facilities for longer. Nothing negative to say about this place.

The hotel is in a beautiful location by the lake. The staff were friendly.

Stunning position on the lake, with amazing views, just steps from the archeological museum. The place exudes character and charm. The rooms are huge and nicely appointed. Nice décor throughout the premises, with immaculate lawns on the terraces. Excellent breakfast.

“Beautiful boutique resort overlooking the water”

Staff were fabulous - Xmas gala was nicely organised by the staff. Village children carol was a highlight. Beautiful location setting on the banks of Parakrama samudra ( sea is samudra). Sunset not to missed- stone throwing distance from world heritage ruins. Perfect location to relax and winding. Food was great and worth for the money. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay . Thank you team for memorable experience

“Tranquil and beautiful lakeside setting.”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel positioned right on the lake. The staff are extremely friendly and were very helpful. We would especially like to thank Suresh the guest service manager who was very helpful with sorting out initial issues we had at the hotel. Ms Buddini is the friendly receptionist who always was helpful in her manner. The dining and bar staff Saduni and Nishani were very friendly and helpful with their service, and finally Supun was always at hand to show us elephants in the lake or particular birds. Thank you for making our stay a special experience.

The staff was exceptional, pointed out elephants in the distance during breakfast and were super helpful in general. Food was some of the best we had in Sri Lanla

“Not great at all.”

Upon arrival, one of the wet face towels offered by the reception was stained black. We were also given a bad room by the reception upon arrival. The room carpet was stained and looked ugly. When we requested a cancellation for the second night, we were given another room with a clean carpet and a nice lake view. However, the hot water did not work properly in the second room. After being informed, the receptionist told us there was a repair and that hot water would be back in 10 min; however, it did not return until we checked out the following day. The shower bath drained slowly. The hotel needs new towels and bath mats which looked old. The room boy was great and attentive. The room was very clean. Food was fine.

The beautiful location right on the lake. The heritage decor and the quality and presentation of the food (we had breakfast, lunch and dinner). Mr Supun in the dining room was friendly and provided excellent service.

Wonderful location and staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent.

Beautiful setting by the lake. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were very good. We did the early morning canoe trip which was very serene, unfortunately we didn’t see any elephants, but did see lots of birds. Nice pool overlooking the lake.
