The location was good: a little far from the big sights of Polonnaruwa, but very quiet and peaceful. The dining area was lovely and the food excellent. The mosquito net was needed, and worked.

Devi s Tourist Home Fantastic stay with Doreena and her husband who were the warmest and most generous hosts. Many travellers choose to visit Polonnaruwa as a day trip from Sigiriya but we were so pleased after a long hot day at the site to stay locally at Devi 's Tourist Home. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with the air conditioning. We were able to take a tuk tuk to a nearby hotel on the lakeside for sunset cocktails in the most beautiful and peaceful setting.Back at Devi's she cooked us a delicious dinner of typical Sri Lankan curries ( better and more generous than a restaurant!) Breakfast was also very good with fresh coffee, fruits and eggs. After checking out, we very much enjoyed a visit to Doreena’s family craft shop where her husband demonstrated how they use natural dyes and we purchased quite unique souvenirs (wine goblets and teacups made from coconut shells-beautiful and we didn’t see anywhere else)at very reasonable prices.The shop is called Hashan Carved and Craft in Polonnaruwa.The whole experience was wonderful and all incredibly good value. Highly recommended!

A very warm welcome, fabulous dinner and fantastic value for money. Beautiful setting and very homely.

The hosts are really nice, they took me around without asking anything. The place is really near the ancient city in a really calm area. The food they make is also great.

“Warm, welcoming and comfortable”

The hosts are so lovely and helpful, and nice to chat to. Their house is very welcoming and relaxed. They took us free of charge to the ruins, helped us rent bikes and kindly picked us up after! We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the property which were all delicious. Due to a booking error with a big group we were actually given a room across the street at their family’s property which was not a problem. Very nice, clean room and bathroom with very comfortable bed and AC. We also went for a walk around the area in the afternoon, and it’s beautiful. Surrounded by rice fields and a river leading to the beautiful lake. Recommend at sunset!

The hosts were incredibly nice and welcoming. they came to pick me up at the station, and waited more than one hour due to my train being late. They also cooked a delicious dinner on a very short notice. The room was comfortable and well-lit and the space outside was very relaxing. Thank you very much for everything!!

Location and accessibility was decent and the host and her husband were helpful. Devi cooks well and her dinners were sumptuous affairs, albeit much pricier than restaurants outside.

“Great short stay for the price and location, perfect for seeing the ancient city”

Me and my partner stayed for 2 nights at Devi. The home cooked dinners in the evening were some of the best we had in Sri Lanka and very reasonable - highly recommend! Breakfast was a little more basic but plenty of toast and fresh fruit. We rented Bikes from the hosts to visit the ancient city which was great. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly and helped arranged transportation when we checked out. Theres a beautiful lake not too far from the guesthouse which we walked to by foot. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.
