If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Plitvice then stay here. Ante (the host) goes to significant effort to ensure you get the best experience of Plitvice possible. This includes tips on how best to navigate the park, which was invaluable to avoid waiting and crowds. The dinner itself was the best meal we had in Croatia. The room felt luxurious and had all the necessities. The communication via booking dot com was excellent.

Ante was absolutely incredible. Such a great host and cook! From the moment we entered he was so helpful and made our stay much more pleasant. Highly recommended. There was also a bonus short walk to the lakes and a secret hidden view ten minutes away where you could see the big waterfall and the surrounding lakes without the crowds.

Great location near one of the quieter entrances to the National Park. Very welcoming and attentive host who gave top tips on how to see the park at its best and avoiding the crowds where possible. The food in the restaurant is excellent, local and organic.

“You would want to stay longer”

Everything about the hosts, the staff and the accommodation was perfect. The hosts made it easier for us to deal with the challenge of planning the trip from Zagreb without a car. While we were very dependent on the hosts for the food, it helped that the food was good.

“Amazing!”

Really fantastic stay at Plitvica River House. One of the few places that lives up to (or exceeds) its incredibly high review score on booking.com and Google. Some notes/tips: - Ante (one of the owners) worked as a chef on cruise liners for 15+ years. The food at the Plitvica River House is very good. Both breakfast and dinner. Quite an outstanding amount of things are homemade (and better than normal). I’m not sure where they find the time! - if you like Hugo cocktails, Ante does an amazing one. - there is a very nice stream and grass/wood area next to the property which you can go and sit at - the house is about 10 minutes walk from Entrance 3 to the national park. You can enter this entrance with a ticket for entrance 1 or 2. It makes things way easier and there is no queue at entrance 3. Would recommend going in after breakfast as early as you can. When we stayed we had breakfast at 7.30am and entered entrance 3 about 8.30am and that was fine. We did opt for a 2-day ticket which was a bit less stress on day 2 (you have to enter at your allotted time on day 1, but then can enter at any time on day 2). We entered at 3pm on Day 1 and just did a small walk to one of the bigger waterfalls, and then did more of the main parts on day 2. No need to stress about this though, as Ante will explain everything. Only recommendation would be to buy a ticket online before so you know you’ll get in.

Ante was an excellent host. He was very engaging, friendly and made the stay enjoyable. River House was well maintained, and essentially a home away from home. Remember to follow thr walking tips provided by Ante and Lucy!

“The Best Stay We’ve Ever Had in Europe ❤️🇭🇷”

Everything. This was honestly the best hotel experience we have ever had during all of our travels across Europe. The location is perfect for visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park, surrounded by beautiful nature and complete tranquility. The room was spotless, extremely comfortable, and the bed was excellent. The shower had amazing water pressure — truly one of the best we have experienced while traveling. What made our stay unforgettable, however, was the owner, Ante. He is one of the most welcoming, attentive, and kind hosts we have ever met. He genuinely cared about making sure we had the best possible experience, giving us precious tips for visiting the park and even recommending the most scenic roads, places to stop, and restaurants for the continuation of our trip through Croatia — much better than Google Maps or Waze suggestions. Ante is also a very talented chef. The food he prepared was outstanding, and my husband says he ate the best pork of his life there. This place is much more than a hotel — it feels like a peaceful oasis and a home away from home. We already miss it very much.

Ante and Lucy are excellent hosts. The property is extremely comfortable and clean, and Ante provides delicious breakfasts and dinners. The property is situated a 15 minute walk from entrance #3 to the park. Ante provided detailed information on the best way to walk around the park.

Our stay was made by the most wonderful hosts, Lucy and Ante. They were so welcoming and extremely helpful with locals inside information to make sure our visit to the lakes was perfect. Ante is a fabulous chef - we had both evening meals at River House which were delicious. Picnic lunch for our day in the park meant we could avoid the rather busy cafes too. The location close to a gate away from the main ones used by coach parties meant for a more peaceful visit to the park too.

Wonderful location. nice and quiet and only a 15 minute walk in and out of the park.
