The place is beautiful, with a spectacular view and close to the beach, although the walk requires some effort, especially on the way back. Highly recommended if traveling with friends.

The front of house staff here are fantastic and create a really wholesome environment. The rest of the team make sure the place is immaculate and the food they prepare is top notch. Playa Maderas has a beautiful beach and incredible sunsets, with just enough in terms of bars and restaurants to give options but still feel small. Great alternative to the more built-up San Juan del Sur.

The staff here were amazing!! They kept you in the loop of things to do and where to go on certain nights (at other hostels as there is no "town"). It's only a 7 minute walk to the beach down a large hill! But the views are unbeatable. Breakfast is absolutely delicious and we all eat together which lets us get to know the other guests. There are only a few villas so it keeps the place personable, lots of time to sit and enjoy the tropical sounds with a good book and view in the common area or on the deck of your villa. They have access to water, some snacks and various drinks which is nice since there are no stores around and at a fair price. Highly recommend !

“Beautiful stay, favourite in several months of travel”

This was my favourite place in several months of travel. The space is so beautiful and Josh, Sophie and Mo are so lovely. The yoga was amazing, the yoga teachers are all amazing, the setting was beautiful, you could hear and see howler monkeys and the surf during yoga practice. The ice baths after were always a lot of fun with the group. The rooms are so serene, you can hear the jungle as well as the ocean at night. Socially it's really nice, breakfasts and dinners are always together and so delicious. Josh, Sophie and Mo really made an effort to get to know us, organise dinners, a surf trip and an art/live music event with other guests and local friends. I highly recommend staying here for as long as you can!

The vibe of the hotel: the shared breakfast and "family style" dinner gave the stay a homey feeling. So you'll meet others like in a hostel, but also enjoy the luxury of a hotel. What I especially liked is that the owner makes it affordable for solo travelers as they pay less for a cabana than couples. Hence there is a nice mix of the two travel styles.

“Magical stay, I really recommend it”

The place is magical, little cabins nestling in the jungle with the chance to watch the monkeys in the morning. The breakfast is delicious and the yoga class on the terrace in the morning is the best way to wind down the day! The staff and especially Josh were amazing and feel you as at home, the hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the Maderas beach, the place is really nice and a good spot for surf, I really recommend! The scooter is perfect for getting around.

“Buena Vista Social Club <3”

I spent 6 weeks travelling through central america and BVSC may well be my favourite place that I stayed. The view from the deck is stunning and its an idyllic place to while away the day. The Cabana was comfy and staying jungle was a beautiful and unique experience. Some great waves at Playa Maderas over the week as well, and it's only a short walk down to the beach. Having breakfast and dinner with other guests was lovely and the food was delicious. Josh was an amazing host and went above and beyond, even taking us on a couple of little trips in the local area over the week. Can't recommend highly enough!

The view from the property was amazing especially the yoga deck, the cabanas were separated enough to be able to retreat to your own place if needed, if not the common space was ample and comfortable, for surfers or aspiring surfers the local beach break (playa maderas) is just a short walk down the hill, which has beautiful sunset views, but what really made the place special was the lovely hosts Josh and Sophie, who not only run some awesome yoga classes but also make sure to incorporate their guests into the fun activities around the area, this is by far the nicest place we have stayed at on our journey.

BVSC is an amazing place for anyone; whether you are a family, a couple or an individual. Aside from the premises, which are absolutely fantastic (the pictures speak for themselves), what made a real difference for us was the people. The staff is truly amazing and very kind. The kitchen is remarkable; the breakfast included is very generous and various and if you have a chance to try the dinner you will not regret it. We also really recommend the Yoga with Josh, followd by an ice bath. Johnny, the current owner, is a great guy. He made us feel very welcome. despite our short stay, we felt like we had known him for ages. He has a surf shop in town, which makes great coffee, and if you are keen he also teaches ju jitsu in San Juan.

The BVSC is amazing ! This little hidden paradise is so peaceful with only good vibes, and the view from the deck is just incredible . Playa Maderas sunset is one of a kind 🌟 and watching the stars from the deck => WAHOO The yoga with Fabi is a must-have ! Ask for a massage , Milena is wonderful. The breakfast is fantastic .
