“Good”

Very cute and safe hotel, the bed is comfortable, and staff very nice. Restaurant in the hotel is quite expensive. The location is great, only a couple minutes walk to the beach.

The room and pool was very nice and JJ in the staff was great. The restaurant had good food. The location close to the secluded beach and the animals you came across everywhere was really a big added bonus.

“Comfortable and super helpful staff”

The staff was great and super accommodating! Yorya helped us organize a turtle tour and a surfing class before we got there. Both activities were top notch, and it was our favorite surfing lesson so far in Costa Rica (ask for Allan). Easy to get to the beach. Room and bed were very comfortable. On site restaurant was a bit pricey (but on par with other places in the area) but had good quality food. We really liked the poke. Our room was upstairs, so nice and quiet. We'd love to come back here during our next trip.

Great king sized bed. Very close to beach. Nice little restaurant. Secluded from the main Beach but not an issue for us. We loved it.

We were a bit out of luck as our room was underneath the restaurant. It was very noisy. Especially when they get ready for the breakfast you can hear every chair removing.

“Super charming place close to Playa Grande”

This is a super nice place with only 4 rooms. It is super charming close to Playa Grande. The staff are super nice, and we had the best breakfast of our whole trip there with birds visiting us as we ate. There is a private walkway to the beach. The room is really nice with a balcony to enjoy the nature. There is a nice coffee machine in the room as well which is a big plus. There is a cafe attached to the place where you can have snacks and a coffee with beautiful views. Highly recommended.

“CHECK your room first before committing to stay”

upon arrival we were greeted by Angelberth, the concierge receiving guests at the front desk who was very helpful and even offered us an upgrade to a kitchenette room. However, upon entering said room, we encountered ants walking all over the walls including bathroom, closet, bed pillows, sofa and floor. Upon calling the concierge, he advised that they had fumigated the day before and that the ants did not bite. At this point we asked for options because there was no way we were staying in that room. Furthermore, the safety box that was in the room, we never got a key, so upon requesting it, the concierge told us previous guests had lost it and they did not have a copy. After several texts back and forth, we requested to be moved to another room to which we were advised they only had a basic room available with one bed (our reservation was for 2 beds) but what I didnt understand is that it was only us and another guest at the entire facility. Upon insisting further, we were finally offered to be changed to their sister hotel which is actually adjacent called hotel el Manglar . Although a different configuration room, it did have a kitchenette and most important NO BUGS. This worked great. If I receive a review request for EL Manglar please know my comments would be a 9 out 10. But for Cantana I cannot say the same due to the situtation already explained so I give it a 3.

A small boutique hotel with lovely gardens and pool. The room was spacious with large bathroom and a kitchen area. The bed was very comfortable. There is a nice open balcony restaurant at the property. Breakfast was an additional fee with my booking. About a 5 minute walk to the beach. Will definitely plan to stay here again.

The pool was lovely. The balcony was excellent. And I especially appreciated the robes provided in the room!

The staff were wonderful and the restaurant was great, with great food. The room and the grounds are very pretty. The pool is nice and we often had the area to ourselves. The nearby Beach was about a 5-minute walk and very beautiful especially at sunset.
