“A wonderful holiday in a beautiful hotel.”

A beautiful entrance and reception area. Reception was painless and quick. Our accommodation was a Luxury Royal View room in villa 25 (Habiscus) adjoining the main pathway to the beach. All the villas are set in the immaculate gardens. The room was large with plenty of storage space and a very comfortable bed. Good shower. David Camara, our concierge, was friendly, patient, helpful and professional and greatly added to our holiday enjoyment. Rooms were kept clean throughout our stay. Great selection of food for breakfast and lunch. Don't forget to book evening restaurants in advance. We enjoyed them all but Ventanas was our favourite. Special mention to Oscar (Escobar??). A very professional waiter. Beach was wonderful with plenty of sunbeds and towels but some guests did reserve prime spots by rising early (0630hrs?) and then returning to bed. Waiters serving the beach during the day were extremely hard working with frequent visits to all guests. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The Mexican night in the Club Royal is well worth attending. Easy to get taxis into Playa del Carmen.

“Great hotel with a few niggles!”

Set in lovely gardens with lots of wildlife. Grounds are beautifully maintained. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Bedrooms are very comfortable. Lots of wardrobe storage. Housekeeping staff very good. Restaurants are all good and staff are lovely. Must book though. Breakfast very good spread. Hotel is set right on the gorgeous beach and plenty of sun beds are available there. Small pools in grounds are lovely and not used much. We appreciated them when we wanted real peace and quiet. Check-in quick and easy. Nice guy who checked us in (Carlos). We stayed in villa 23. Didn’t find our concierge overly friendly or helpful but Alberto from a neighbouring villa was great. So cheerful and helpful. There does seem to be an issue around the main pools. One is unheated and doesn’t get used. The other has all reserved sun beds (mainly for suite guests) around it so unless you qualify for a reservation you can’t have a bed there. Didn’t matter to us as we prefer the gorgeous beach but some people weren’t happy about it. Anyway, the definitive test:- I’d always be happy to return here (this was our second visit).

“The best all-inclusive stay we’ve ever had!”

I was blown away by the facilities. Everything was perfectly taken care of. The bed was super comfortable, the gardens were beautiful, and the food was incredible. You could enjoy a la carte meals every day and the quality was consistently outstanding. I’m surprised more reviews don’t highlight this! The staff were amazing too, friendly and always going above and beyond.

The clue is in the name - hideaway. If you want to stay and chill.in a resort, it's perfect!! Everything will be taken care of.

This was my first all inclusive holiday and Royal Hideaway didn't disappoint. The hotel is beautiful and rooms and bed are great. There was plenty of choice of food for us. I would recommend eating at Spices for breakfast rather than at the buffet.

Hotel was clean and well maintained. Staff was very polite and ready to help, even tho our concierge was sometimes missing. Wasn't making a huge difference for us. Me and my family had very good vacation.

The rooms are spacious and airy. We had sheers for privacy in the day and heavy drapes for nighttime. The room had a King Size bed. And there was plenty of space to store our clothes in the large night table drawers and the small walk-in. The bathrooms are large with rain shower, hand held shower, a separate tub and double sinks. We loved the L’Occitane soaps and shampoo although we were surprised that there was no conditioner or body cream which is standard in every other resort. The food served in the specialty restaurants was excellent. Both pools and the beach area were beautifully maintained. We found that the Royal Hideaway Adults Only beach was the best when compared to the other resort beaches along the beach front. They had less space, fewer mature palm trees for shade and the beach chairs were crowded together. The services of our concierge, Karla, were excellent. Karla’s attention to our requests were above and beyond our expectations. Every staff member was helpful and very friendly.

The staff was helpful, the food was delicious. The beach was amazing. I've attended to the bike tour and booked a tennis class. It enriched our experience. Playacar is a nice neighbourhood to take a walk and ride a bike. The hotel is very close to 5th Av. as well if you're interested in.
