“Tropical paradise”

Two words: tropical paradise. After a long day at the beach, we would always come home to a cozy bungalow with everything spotlessly clean and fresh sheets on the bed. We were especially grateful for the fresh-ground coffee by the bedside that we brewed every morning as we sat on the terrace and watched all of the beautiful plants and birds. We are very grateful to have stumbled upon this hidden gem.

“chill out for soul shine but if you need more entertainment you need somewhere less remote”

this is ideal for surfers due to walking distance 10 mins to great surf beach however a car is useful as it’s a long distance from a big town. one bus a day but Uber is possible. the area is remote. Excellent breakfast nice freshwater pool, small hut accommodation without wardrobe or TV because this feels like a hideaway. Staff very friendly

“Wonderful place to relax”

For sure, the concept is great to have your own little house. We appreciated the decoration and wonderful vibe around the entire property. It was easy and a good place to unwind. There were fresh towels, own toiletries with a wonderful smell and good quality, as well as the restaurant (which was though pretty expensive, in our opinion more than the average in the area). In addition, we had a warm welcoming and good explanations of the location and surroundings.

“Excellent family stay”

Our large family rented 3 cabins, which complete suited our needs - allowing some downtown while being super each to be together. Check- in and communication was super smooth, rooms were very clean, stylish and comfortable. Breakfast was next level. The pool was perfect for the kids to play and offered lots of comfortable shaded seating for parents and grandparents. Grounds were tidy and room cleaning staff did a great job. Considering the area is still quite undeveloped, there were a few great restaurant options close by. The beach offered great surfing, boogie boarding and walking. Not over crowded.

The entire property was very nicely laid out, with individual cottages close to the swimming pool but sufficiently secluded for quietness and privacy, and surrounded by trees and shrubs. The cottages are very nicely designed, spacious and well-appointed. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed the relative isolation of Playa Avellana - such a pleasant contrast with Tamarindo! Overall, a very pleasant stay in a lovely property.

Lovely and well maintained gardens and fantastic sea water pool. Short walk to an absolutely stunning and relatively quiet beach. The brunch is fantastic and utterly delicious.

Soul Shine is the best accommodation choice in the Playa Avellanas area. The cabinas are spacious and clean with comfortable beds, good WiFi, air conditioning and a mini-fridge. The pool is a gorgeous place to relax and the grounds are laden with lush tropical flowers and vegetation. The location is amazing - Avellanas beach is a short walk away, and so are many great restaurants, including Barumis (burgers), Lola’s, La Parruja, and La Esquina, a community space with tacos, sushi, cocktails and other tasty food (visit the public market there on Friday nights for local vendors and live music). You can also walk next door and get some gelato! Owners Yael and Roee are the ultimate hosts and will ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. You really are part of the family when you’re here. And a Soul Shine review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning their delicious brunch! This place serves up some of the best food you’ll find in the area – even in all of Costa Rica. Authentic menu items such as shakshuka, Gypsy King, falafels and avocado toast are all served hot and fresh with crispy salad and yummy tapas on the side. The fresh bread is served warm and melts in your mouth! Soul Shine has everything you need for a perfect stay in the Playa Avellanas/Playa Negra area – comfortable rooms, attentive hosts, amazing food and close to the beach and restaurants.
