Overview
Hosted in an 1929 stone building, New Helvetia Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Cyprus, ran by the 4th generation of owners and offers free WiFi, and on-site fitness facilities. It is located in Pano Platres, at the foot of the Troodos Mountains. Platres Athletic Centre can be reached within a 5-minute drive. Trooditissa Monastery is a 10-minute drive away. A 250-year-old pine tree growing through the roof is the centrepiece of the lobby, which also features an ancient brick fireplace. Guests can relax in the TV corner while enjoying a drink from the lounge bar. Certified Cypriot breakfast is served in the morning. The rooms of the vintage-style New Helvetia Hotel have en suite bathrooms, and are equipped with radio and satellite TV. All rooms have a balcony looking out onto the pine trees. The several outdoor activities of the Troodos Ski Resort can be easily reached by car. Free private parking is available at the New Helvetia Hotel. Limassol is 36 km from the property while, Larnaca International Airport is 103 km from the hotel.

“Felt at home”
Very charming place. All wooden and warm inside. The breakfast was great and we did feel like home. Rooms are cozy and the view and the sound of the river is amazing.

Past reviews of this place not having heating in the rooms are false. Or at least in my case they were. The room was heated to the perfect temperature, and was never cold. Staff is super helpful and kind. The hotel itself feels very cozy, and nice to be in. Bathrooms are new, and while they don’t fit the aesthetic of the place, i can’t complain because there was always hot water, and there’s also heated towel racks.

I do not understand the negative reviews left by some former guests of this hotel. This is an authentic place with a century-long history, beautifully restored last year and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. I spent two nights here at the end of November and truly wish I had stayed longer. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. The spacious lobby with a fireplace, Earl Grey tea, and a large bar creates a warm and atmospheric space. The entire hotel breathes history, with newspaper clippings, portraits, and carefully preserved antique details that make you feel immersed in a real historical setting. It is truly one of a kind. Most old hotels in the area are already closed, so I am very grateful to the new owners for preserving this place with such care and love, giving visitors a rare chance to experience something special. Breakfast was a buffet with enough variety to start an active day. The views from the balcony are stunning, and the room was spacious with a brand-new bathroom and a powerful hot shower. You can also enjoy breakfast on the veranda overlooking the mountains and breathing fresh mountain air.

“A Hidden Gem with Vintage Soul”
This wonderfully atmospheric historic hotel sits tucked away in a picturesque forest, and stepping inside feels like traveling back to the mid-20th century. There’s even an original menu from 1944 framed on the wall—such a charming touch. The lobby is incredibly cozy, complete with a fireplace and excellent cocktails, and the veranda bar is absolutely stunning. Breakfast is served in a beautiful restaurant that perfectly complements the hotel’s character. Our room was simple but very comfortable, featuring two balconies. The bathroom looked like it came straight out of a high-end European design catalog—everything modern, sleek, and top-quality. The staff were warm, attentive, and even helped us out with toothbrushes when we needed them. I would gladly stay here again!

Fireplace and the hall at the ground floor look cosy and comfortable. Staff is nice. I suppose direct mountain view from the upper floor is beautiful (unfortunately I had a room with an inner door view). Herbal tea at the bar were delicious.
